ONE MUSTARD SEED...

One of the subjects that Jesus taught about was the 'tiny mustard seed.' I have marveled over these verses in the Gospels. There are five. All unfold powerful thoughts. My favorite:

Then Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom
of God like? What shall I compare it to?
It is like a (one) mustard seed, which a man
took and planted in his garden. It grew and
became a tree, and the birds of the air
perched in its branches." Luke 13:18,19.

Now, hold your breath. We'll be right back...

Scripture declares the supremacy of Christ:
"He (Christ) is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over ALL creation. For by Him ALL
things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether
thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
ALL things were created by Him and for Him.
He is before ALL things, and in Him
ALL things hold together." Col 1:15-17.

What else can be said? SUPREMACY.

"The Word (Christ) became flesh and
made His dwelling among us." John 1:14.

Worth examining more closely:

"Joseph son of David, do not be afraid
to take Mary home as your wife,
because what is conceived in her is
from the Holy Spirit.
She will give birth to a son,
and you are to give Him the name Jesus,
because He will save His people from their sins."
Matt 1:20b,21.

The tiny SEED was planted by God in Mary. God chose the creation of a special cell, which then became a human embryo. God came to live on this planet using the simplest, basic means. What a marvelous, superb plan? After approximately 9 months of gestation, a special baby was born:
"While they were there, the time came
for the baby to be born, and she gave
birth to her firstborn, a son." Luke 2:6,7a.

"And the child GREW and became strong;
He was filled with wisdom,
and the grace of God was upon Him." Luke 2:40.

"After three days they found Him in the
temple courts, sitting among the teachers,
listening to them and asking them questions.
Everyone who heard Him was amazed at His
understanding and His answers." Luke 2:46,47.

"That which was from the beginning, Which
we have heard, Which we have seen
with our eyes, Which we have looked at and
our hands have touched---this we proclaim
concerning the Word of Life (Christ).
The Life appeared..." 1 John 1:1,2a.

From one tiny seed? What do you think?
"With man this is impossible,
but with God all things are possible." Matt 19:26.

Scripture declares the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ:

"For what I (Paul) received I passed on to you
as of first importance: that Christ died for
our sins according to the Scriptures, that
He was buried, that He was raised on the
third day (note: the EMPTY TOMB!)
according to the Scriptures, and that He
appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.
After that, He appeared to more than
five hundred of the brothers at the same time,
most of whom are still living,
though some have fallen asleep. Then He
appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
and last of all He appeared to me also,
as to one abnormally born (again)."
1 Cor 15:3-8.

Scripture teaches three more important events, two very much intertwined:

Two angels speaking, "Men of Galilee," they said,
"Why do you stand here looking into
the sky? This same Jesus, Who has been
taken from you into heaven (the Ascension),
will COME BACK in the same way you
have seen Him go into heaven." Acts 1:11.

"Christ Jesus, Who died---more than that,
Who was RAISED to life---is at
(right now!) the right hand of God and is also
interceding (PRAYING) for us." Rom 8:34b.

All this to be painting a beautiful picture for you...

Zip back to the beginning. The Lord Jesus Christ is the tiny grain of MUSTARD SEED, Who has grown into a great tree.
Now, use your sense of humor: we are the 'birds' who find shelter and lodging under His loving care. Amen.
