Healthy Living
Pg. 1
INTRODUCTION
This article will discuss my perspective of quality of life as well as compare and contrast my perspective with the elderly population. I will discuss prayer, spirituality, and peace, which are the three most important daily living components for me.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Quality of life means the way an individual lives his or her life. An individuals’ quality of life can be determined by their age, weight, social status, and health status. I think the quality of life is examined by the above factors, and the elderly state of health can be based on his or her quality of life.
PRAYER, SPRITUALITY, PEACE
The three most important daily living components I need for well being is prayer, spirituality, and peace. These three components are all linked to the source of my happiness; which is God. In order for me to have a spiritual life, I need daily prayer which sustains me and brings me peace of mind, peace in my heart, and peace in every situation of my life. The absence of any of these three components would leave me with a void in my life and a sense of confusion.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
I would compare the elderly life expectancy based on how he or she has taken care of his or her self through the years. Another factor of life expectancy I believe is an individuals’ spiritual journey or their walk with God. As we age and are able to wake up with peace of mind through spiritual well being, I believe God takes care of us by sustaining our mind and our health.
Pg. 2
The quality of life for the elderly population can be evaluated by the individual health status. As you age there are a number of health concerns, which may be the difference of how the elderly view quality of life. The elderly population has to consider their mental capacity as well as the various diseases that affect our bodies as we age. I think the quality of life can be viewed with a negative and a positive perspective, but what will be a determining factor in the aging process is your past and present life style and spiritual well-being.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, this article discussed and defined quality of life as well as three key components that can influence quality of life. My hope would be for my reading audience to gain a basic understanding of quality of life for the elderly, as well as to understand the importance of having spiritual well-being as we age.
