The “Psycho-Galvic Response” (PGR) within the human body is like the “Fight or Flight Response” (FFR) in many ways. Most of us are familiar with the FFR.

FFR is a well-known escape mechanism that makes animals flee, or prepare to fight, at the first sign of danger. It involves the involuntary eliminating of all waste from the body to keep the body from being sluggish or impaired. The blood vessels of the muscles dilate to exhilarate their blood flow for use in running or fighting, and the blood vessels of the intestines constrict to concentrate the blood flow elsewhere. Adrenaline floods the body, causing muscle bundling and tightening to ward off potential blows by an enemy. Electro-static currents flush the skin and charge through the brain to highten awareness and reactions.

This Fight or Flight Reaction is only supposed to last minutes, not hours. If it continues over an extended period, it can lead to sleep disturbances, stress related illnesses and even death as tissues are destroyed by sustained chemical imbalances.

Both PGR and FFR are immediate, automatic and uncontrollable. We can not alter them, by intent, so much as we can consciously control our breathing! But that is where the similarities end.

The PGR, in short, reacts to spoken lies in particular and fears in general. As soon as we speak out an untruth, regardless of our motives for speaking it, the PGR processes begin.

It races our heart, pumps excessive adrenaline into our bloodstream, looses caustic enzymes into our systems, stops some hormone production and surges others, spikes our skin temperature, squeezes our sweat glands, and instantly parches all our mucosal linings from the sinuses, eyes, mouth and esophagus to the stomach and reproductive organs.

In the end, the results are the same for lies and fear: cancer, hardened arteries, strokes, internal bruises that sometimes cause fatal or debilitating cerebral hemorrhage and a host of other devastating ills from reflux to irritable bowel syndrome.

Many environmental things hasten the onset of disease in the human body, including various herbs with phyto-estrogenic qualities. This connection is clearly established in Christian scripture.

That’s the down side of PGR. In the absence of fear, which includes worrying, and lies, our bodies are not affected by it.

There, at the born-again junction – enters a complication in the PGR process. What ordinary humans consider truth and their heart considers fact is not usually so to the born again human spirit! This contradiction affects the PGR in us.

When we Christians refuse to trust in and rely upon the authoritative Word of God, our rebellious confessions are treated as lies by our bodies! For instance, it is written in Second Peter 2:24, “By His stripes you were healed.”

That speaks of Jesus’ hard-won atonement provision for our health and well-being. All Jesus’ atonement provisions are higher laws than earth’s laws.

When we are born-again, we get the opportunity to experience the authority and power of heaven right here, because our citizenship has been translated from one kingdom to another. We have been moved, “lock, stock and barrel” from one kingdom to another, in Christ. Our “kind” designation has changed. We are no longer simply ‘human’ but have been hybridized by the Spirit of God to a higher type of spirit than an ordinary human spirit. This change alters our nature and our responses. Our new instinct is to follow God as Jesus did: by studying to show ourselves approved unto Him. Our new spirit is, therefore, more authoritative, whether we know it or not.

So, when a born-again spirit says, “I am sick,” it lies against the truth of God’s Word! It is still acting and speaking like a normal human spirit! But truly, it lies in the face of God Who says something quite different!

Automatically and imperceptibly, the PGR exacts its penalty within us according to the Instructions of the Word of God.

Little by little, one error at a time, we destroy, through our own ignorance, the gift of God to us: our bodies. With our bodies health… goes our peace, or prosperity, our time, our joy.
No enemy is needed. No clandestine political agenda of evil spiritual forces is at work in us. We do it to ourselves by failing, or refusing, to believe the instructions of God given us in His Holy Word.

Wisdom is acquiring the knowledge of the Word of God and assimilating it for use within us. It is learning how to use the Word of God that gives it power to prolong our lives and keep us healthy. Therein is wisdom, the principle thing God tells us to get.
