The road of life is often rough.
Sometimes the incline is tough.

The road is often narrow and winding.
Sometimes the weather is blinding.

Traffic signs we must heed,
To regulate our direction and speed.

To avoid danger and fines,
We must stay within the lines.

We must be alert and awake,
To know when to accelerate or brake.

Should we slumber or sleep,
Our actions we will reap.

If we stray off the path,
May God gently wake us with his righteous wrath.

May our waywardness be not fatal, but serve as warning.
May we wake to rejoicing not mourning.

Let us not lose sight of our final destination.
We are not home, just tourist on vacation.

Don’t fall asleep at the wheel, keep the rubber side down
Until at His feet we kneel and accept our eternal crown.
