The Sun Will Shine Again

When your burdens seem so heavy
When it’s more than you can bear
When it takes all strength that you have left
Just to utter one more prayer

I know you feel so hopeless
For I’ve been where you are now
Hold tight the hand of Jesus
Hold tight the Father’s vow

He’s promised us His shelter
When those heavy clouds roll in
As certain as those rains shall come
The sun will shine again!

Sometimes there are hours, days, even weeks when it seems as if the sun refuses to shine in our lives, Lord. Times like those are dark and dreary, and they often bring a veil of depression along with them.
No matter what the event or trouble that came into our world to cause this gloomy period, we have all had them invade our lives at one time or another, and will more likely than not, see them headed our way again somewhere on the horizon.
So how do we keep our eyes on You, Lord, when we can’t even see the hand in front of our face through the thick, gray of the clouds swirling around us? We close our eyes.
Most people might be taken aback by that statement. How does closing your eyes help anyone to see better? Well, we must remember that we cannot even look upon Your face with our human eyes while we are still here on earth. Often the only time we can clearly see You from where we now stand is to shut our eyes to everything but You. Block out all distractions. Physical blindness, if only for a moment, hinders that gray sky or even the glare of the world from interfering with the view that is most crucial: You.
You are the true sunshine of our lives- the dawn we must seek when darkness has fallen in our lives. And You are faithful. Even in the darkest of times, You will be that ray of sun that we so desperately need.
I Love You, Lord.
