I am thankful for skies of blue
And the morning dew.
I am thankful for the grass so green
And the sunset scene,
I am thankful for roof overhead
And a soft comfortable bed.
I am thankful for the song of the whippoorwill
And for flowers on the windowsill,
I am thankful for spring rains
And for harvest grains.
I am thankful for food on the table,
I am thankful for Internet and Cable,
I am thankful for the car I drive,
I am thankful to be alive.
I am thankful for a church to attend
To worship with family and friend,
I am thankful for music to cheer the heart,
In harmony and three part.
I am thankful for the laughter of a child,
Running free and wild.
I am thankful for wisdom from the sage
That can’t be learned from book page.
I am thankful for many things I oft take for granted,
When my view becomes distorted and slanted.
I am thankful for strength and health
That can not be purchased with wealth.
I am thankful for my beautiful wife
Who has brought so much joy to my life.
Above all, I am thankful for Christ’s death on Calvary’s Hill
To Him, I surrender my life and stubborn will.
