What Is Destiny
Delayed But Not Denied

Destiny – Predetermined course of events, fate, particular persons fate or lot, something which a person or thing is destined, the designated, assigned, dedicated place one should be that they have been directed, devised or set apart for a specific purpose or place. Predestined event may be held to be an irresistible power or agency

Predetermine – determine or decree beforehand, fixed, prearranged, pre-established, preplanned, preset, set up
Predestined – determined before hand, ordain in advance by divine will or as if by fate. Destiny, doom, fate, predetermination

Genesis 37:3-6
Now Israel (Jacob) loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a coat of many colors and when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him and Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren and they hated him yet the more, and he said unto them, hear I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end

In the text we find that Joseph was the son of Jacob and his beloved wife Rachel. He was hated for his dreams, his passions, and his purpose, as well as the favoritism his father showed him over his other brothers; for whom he was the eleventh of the twelve sons and the eldest of the two children of Rachel and Jacob. Jacob was around 90-91 years of age when Joseph was born, so he was his favorite son because his birth was in his advanced years and born of the woman he truly loved that had been barren. Joseph received a coat of many colors from his father and this excited envy among the other brethren. His brothers then conspired against him, sold him to the Ishmaelite, and they sold him into Egypt, but the Lord was with Joseph and as Jeremiah 29:11 says, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

He was delayed but not denied God’s destiny for his life because Joseph had God’s favor, he also found favor with man. He found grace in the King’s sight. He served the King and the King made him overseer over his house and all that he had. Knowing your destiny will keep you focused and from falling into temptation along the way, although the Devil will set traps for you.

He will set out deception, he will even have you incarcerated; bound up in your mind that your destiny will be cut short, but little did he know that all things work together for good to them that Love God and is called according to his purpose. Joseph purpose was fulfilled in his gift in the jail. His gift made room for him. His gift of interpretation got him out of jail, in second command only to the king. He interpreted the Kings dream. The same gift that got him bound up in life also got him freed to save his people as well as the nation of Egypt. He ended up getting his father and family back, kept them from starvation as well as Egypt. Because he stayed the course, he not only saved them but he showed the love of God and that God was in control of his destiny and his life. He lived out his God ordained purpose to meet his destiny, his desired end.

Joseph’s destiny came to pass because he was careful about where he went and what he did when he got there. No matter what happened in his life, he did not become rebellious, but stayed true to God and kept God first. He was given to ethics in his work, he had a moral mandate for his work in whatever state that he found himself in. He did the right things, lived a certain way (Godly) carried himself like he had purpose, what he did was of a good report although it was reported wrong and he dealt with things in a godly fashion never deviating away from his divine destiny. He ran from the things of the flesh and to the things of Christ.

Although you may have been delayed some things in life, keep living. Live for God, stay in the race, and forgive when needed and run for your life away from sin, and fulfill your destiny.

In reaching your desired end or your destiny you must shut in with the lover of your soul. Destiny brings life to dead situations; it brings hope to hopeless lives. To stay pure, stay in the Word, stay with the Word, and go back to your first state, purity, cleanliness, and sanctification. That first state where Jesus was in total control.
