For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

I heard someone speak on this verse a few weeks ago, and it has been a blessing to me since then. He explained that the sense of the word “workmanship” is really “masterpiece”. I am God’s masterpiece. I might not FEEL like a masterpiece. I can tell you for sure that I don’t LOOK like a masterpiece. But I am a masterpiece. God made me, and He says so!

Three days after I heard this message I attended an art class put on by our local library. The artist being considered was Claude Monet, one of my favorites. Our God is such an effective teacher! Combining the sermon with an art class has beautifully reinforced and etched this truth into my soul. I am HIS masterpiece. I am his planned creation, uniquely put together according to his design. The implications of this truth could and should transform my life!

One of the books about Monet featured a water lily close-up. You know, from that perspective it didn’t look like a lovely, perfect lily. It looked like a smeared blob of layered colors. But, just as it was, it formed a vital part of the complete and perfect and beautiful whole. The Master's vision and technique was flawless!

Today, wherever we are, each one of us is His masterpiece. Let’s dust ourselves off and enjoy that amazing thought!
