If you were to be asked the question 'who are you?' You will probably have so many answers cluttering your mind that you will not know where to start from. Of course there is hardly anyone you will ask such a question that will not have a clue as to who he/she is. The aim of this article is to see ourselves as christians in light with what the word of God has already provided. In other words seeing ourselves the God's way. Low self esteem as we might have already known is destructive. It drains the power of God in us and cause us to see and think of ourselves less than what we really are.

The Bible says "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are the children of the most High". Psalm 82v6(KJV). Later in the new testament, Jesus quoted the same scripture and added "......Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he calls them gods to whom the word of God came and the scripture cannot be broken"John 10v34-35(KJV). Since we received the word of God we have been identified in the class of God. Is this not awesome! "Behold, what manner of love the father has bestowed on us that we should be called the sons of God....."1John3v1(KJV). I can go on and on with this but the emphasis here is seeing ourselves just as God intended.

If God the Father has identified Himself with us, then it will be a slap in the face to think we are nothing. People will always accept you the way you present yourself and you cannot be anything more than what is inside of you. "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...Proverbs23v7(KJV). Sometimes we become very familiar with the scriptures that we miss out on the very revelation that comes with such scriptures. For instance, the Bible says "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold all things are new."2Corinthians 5v17(KJV). Well, some of us can easily shrug off and say 'yes that only happened at salvation'. What we fail to understand is that salvation is a package. The day we received Jesus into our lives, we started a spriritual journey of taking on the nature of God.

The Bible says " But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name"John1v12(KJV). So there is power that is released when you receive Christ. The believing is more than a simple prayer of salvation. It goes beyond that to receiving His person, mission and principles. In other words you accept the person of Jesus along with the purpose that He came and also His lifestyle. If you have to boost your self esteem then first of all change the perception of yourself. In Ephesians 2v6, the Bible says "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"(KJV).

This is not a call to act as if we do not have issues in the world, but a call to see beyond the issues into our real identity in Christ. The Bible also says in 1Peter 2v9, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light". Having a positive self esteem starts with self discovery-who am I? Discovery leads to recovery. Next is what do I have? You have the life of God and everything that comes with this God-life. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind"2Timothy1v7(KJV)

If you begin to see yourself as God sees you and deposit the word of God in you then you will start living like God intended and you will shout with me....I AM SOMEBODY. Amen.
