I Have Prayed

Luke 18 verse 1 "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint".

I have prayed many a prayer over the years
Lord I know you heard my cries and saw my tears
I have prayed during the darkest hour of the night
Lord the blackness was so thick there was no light

I have prayed over my children as they lay asleep
Lord I am so thankful that I am one of your sheep
I have prayed when all of my money was gone
Lord remember when my cupboard was dry as a bone

I have prayed for rain when the ground was dry
Lord you have promised to hear my faintest cry
I have prayed for my country again and again
Lord I closed my prayer with a hearty amen

I have prayed for my neighbors, dear family and others
Lord remember my prayers for those fathers and mothers
I have prayed at the nursing home where many were sick
Lord remember that sweet gospel singer named Rick

I have prayed on the radio before I began to preach
Lord you gave me the words you would have me to teach
I have prayed in churches, hospitals, fields and such
Lord you know we all need your love so very much

I have prayed when hard decisions had to be made
Lord you gave me encouragement when hope began to fade
I have prayed standing in the middle of a lonely road
Lord you heard my prayer and lifted my heavy load

For over 20 years I have been praying to my King
He has told us to pray about each and every thing
Many answers to prayers I could record
But the cost of the paper I could not afford
