Doom Gloom or Joy

The words doom and gloom are not in the bible. The word gloominess is in the bible and comes from an unused root, meaning to set as the sun, being dusky or very dark. The setting of the sun is a gradual action and refers to darkness and obscurity, being lacking or inadequately supplied with light.

Although the actual word doom is not in the bible, it is defined today as judgment with destiny. The term today is usually mentioned as a doomsday, being the day of doom, the day when the whole world will be judged. Judgment day implies and is allied with justice. Thus, doomsday is the judgment day of justice.

That sounds good, but, over the years the words now refer to times of sadness or misfortune. Once these times of sadness and misfortune have passed, people do not want to remember or discuss those times. To refer to such thoughts is remembering and returning to the times of doom and gloom. This is a bad thing, for the flesh does not want to deal with such matters.

Through the years as I dug in and studied Gods word the subjects of righteousness and justice were predominant. A major part of my concerns tied the bible in with the reality of today. Studying the founding of the United States and the writing of our Constitution, I came across the word rectitude in the Declaration of Independence. Our representatives of congress were appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of their intentions. Their appealing to God Almighty sought recognition that their actions were upright and done with integrity. It was apparent, the Supreme Judge agreed.

For years I’ve wanted to write and get the word out concerning such matters. Probably thinking it would never happen or that I couldn’t do it, time kept moving on. One day, without intention, I was introduced to a retired professor of literature who became an ongoing acquaintance. This professor was also a Sunday school teacher at a large local church.

I had arrived at a title for a writing and one day while passing by the professor said, ”Professor, I’ve been wanting to write a book and have come up with the title, Doomsday, Prophecy of Rectitude. What do you think of this title?” He looked surprised and thought for a few moments then said, “I think you need to get another title”, then turned and walked away. I was shocked and hurt but continued on seeking the fullness of God.

One day the Lord revealed that doom and gloom was worldly and flesh didn’t want to deal with the subject. “It is true there will be a final doomsday or day of judgment, but it must be remembered judgment includes destiny”, says the Lord. The judgment day of the Lord will be a day of gloominess, a day when millions of people will be living with inadequate light. They will have been given the opportunity to receive of the light that would direct their destiny on judgment day. But, because of the fleshly worldly ways they refused to seek rectitude.

“Doomsday could be today”, says the Lord. “Today could be the day of joy. The day each individual met their doom and appealed to the Supreme Judge, having made judgment to receive an adequate supply of light. I am the light and I desire all to receive of me. A doomsday is a day one makes a judgment for their self. Their day of recognizing they have an inadequate supply of light and have made up the mind through the heart to seek the fullness of light. Their doomsday is the day they repent and give their heart to me that they could receive of the light. Their doomsday is the day of new destiny provided with adequate light. What a joy. For the joy of the Lord is their strength.”

We die once and are born twice. May all of Gods’ children pray that the doomsday of millions happen today, allowing them to be born again and their life of the past to die. Gloominess is a serious matter allowing doom and gloom to maintain a flesh that is destined to be crucified.

Doomsday, the prophecy of rectitude is the prophecy of the results of one becoming right with God and living with adequate light. To a child of God there is no such thing as doom and gloom only the joy of the Lord.
