On Your Baptism
Today God smiles upon you, child,
with you he will remain,
to guide you safely while you tread
throughout life's prize and pain.
Your parents brought you to this world
the Lord brought you to light.
With smiles of peace or brow furrowed
you'll never leave his sight.
He's chosen, for you, a wonderful gift
to accompany you on your journey.
A loving companion, an unfaltering friend
to ease your woes and worry.
In Him you'll find your strength, dear child,
keep eyes steady on His face.
By words and wisdom you shall know
our Lord's eternal grace.
