The Uniting Church (Australia’s third largest) National Assembly has voted to allow the ordination of practising homosexual ministers on a "case-by-case basis" by individual presbyteries.
The decision in Melbourne has delighted the small group of canvassing homosexuals who promote their own interpretation of biblical morality. Have they forgotten how God dealt with Sodom and Gomorrah? Guess where the word “sodomy” came from.
How church “leaders” (who we assume read the Bible) could do this is beyond belief. It is happening in other countries too. The satanic foot is in the door. This is the white-anting that will crumble the church’s foundations, and the cancer that seeks to destroy it. What a relief that no-one can destroy God!
The Assembly voted to admit homosexual ministers presumably in the name of tolerance, liberty, progress and enlightenment. In a strange, shall-we/shan’t we mindset (which itself smacks of self-doubt) they have said it is up to individual congregations whether or not to apply this new-found “freedom” in their own locality.
It should never even have got to the voting stage, but now this decision and new scenario promises an el dorado for lawyers.
Any church that sticks to the scriptures and refuses to appoint a practising (note the itals) homosexual who applies for the ministerial post, will now face litigation. The church congregation may not want the applicant, but his lawyer’s argument will be that the main church admin has said he can be admitted, and if so, why is he now being denied entry? No doubt in a worldly court the case will be won. The applicant walks away with thousands of dollars as “compensation for discrimination” and the church pays damages—but we all know it is impossible to exploit God, whose word will judge us all!
The Bible spells out the conditions for acceptance by the Lord: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) How about: “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) “Flee sexual immorality.” (1 Corinthians 6:18) “…Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12) There are many others. So what else will happen now in human terms?
We’ll have the ridiculous possibility of an openly-practising homosexual minister expounding at the pulpit on being born again, or possibly on being a new creature in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17) He could do so previously whilst hiding the sinful secret life, but now (tolerated by his congregation) he can proudly proclaim his homosexual lifestyle. Yet God is not mocked. One cannot be born again and be a sinner at the same time. Did Jesus say “Go, and sin no more” or “Go, and sin some more”? (John 8:11)
God loves everyone, be they homosexual, prostitute, pedophile or any other sinner, but only if they will reform, repent. If they don’t they might be accepted into some church, but scripturally they won’t be accepted into heaven.
A person washed in the blood of Jesus, with sins forgiven, makes a mockery of the cross if he/she goes back to the original sinning as a way of life. It’s even worse if that person practising homosexuality continues to proclaim him/herself to be a Christian. That—according to the Bible Christians are supposed to live by—will bring an awful eternal death for those misguided souls.

Hi Rod! I didn't realise that the vote had come out that way(I've not heard the news for a few days). There is no question that there will now be a split of some sort in the UC. We started our Christian life in this denomination but left after five years (in 1991) because we could see the way it was heading. We left because the powers that be declared that it was a woman's choice to have an abortion. How much worse things have become in those intervening 12 years! Your article is extremely well titled.
