Treasures of the Heart?

The channels on secular television are loaded with the lust of the world; everywhere you turn its reality tv and million dollar game shows. Who’s the prettiest, lost the most weight, or is the most daring. If that’s not enough to leave a foul taste in your mouth, surf over to the news. It’s abounding with death, destruction, corporate theft, and natural disasters to name a few.

On the game shows you see the contestants jumping for joy as they creep closer to the million dollar treasure. Every time another case is opened, every pound that is shed, the audience goes wild! Is this any different than the gladiators in the Roman coliseums? We live in a society filled with money pyramids, lotteries, and race tracks. We live in a microwave world. We see, but we don’t perceive, we hear but we have no understanding.

We’re in the eleventh hour! We can see the signs of the times on the nightly news. The world running after its riches is like a dog chasing its tail, round and round it goes, but it’s always out of reach. Can you see the writing on the wall? What are you chasing after? Where is your treasure?

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matt. 6:21) (NIV)
