The Greatest Christmas Gift

Gifts spread under the Christmas tree
Wrapped in ribbons of red and gold
Christmas carols softly fill the room
Reminding of the blessed story of old

Away in a manger, no crib for His bed
Little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky look down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

T’was the night the Christ child was born
The story is new every time I hear it
It still holds the magic many years later
I still feel it’s truths, by His Holy Spirit

O Holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

Heavenly hosts called out “Fear not!
We bring you good tidings of great joy.
For unto you this day in the city of David
A child is born, who is Christ, the Lord!”

Hark the herald angels sing!
Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled

Shepherds made haste leaving their flocks
To see of the things they were told
Wise men brought gifts to lay at His feet
Of frankincense, myrrh and gold

Go tell it on the mountains
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountains
That Jesus Christ is born!

Mary pondered these things in her heart
The Son of God, was He her child?
As He lay sleeping there in the manger
This precious infant so tender and mild.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Mary, did you know when you kiss your little baby
You’ve kissed the face of God?

The greatest Christmas gift ever given
Was the gift of the Lord Jesus Christ
God Himself gave Him to you and I
One Holy sacred night, O night divine!
