Wouldn't a mere simple request from God to trust Him be sufficient? Is it absolutely necessary for Him to yank out of sight whatever we most prize, to drag us into spiritual traumas of the severest sort, to strip us naked in the winds of His Purifying Spirit in order that we should trust Him?

Yes.

The deepest spiriutal lessons are not learned by His letting us have our way in the end, but by making us wait, bearing with us in love and patience until we are able to honestly pray what he taught His disciples to pray: Thy will be done.

If the yearnings went away, what would we have to offer up to the Lord? Aren't they given to us to offer? It is the control of passion, not eradication, that is needed. How would we learn to submit to the authority of Christ if we had nothing to submit?

So the things that we feel most deeply, we ought to be silent about. Silent meaning, when you are struggling, go to the Lord. Give it all to Him. Don't parade around grumbling and complaining. "Why me Lord? WHY?" Well, why not YOU? The Lord has called us each to something different and how else is He to refine? If all struggles and suffering were eliminated, the spirit would no more reach maturity than would a child.

Our Heavenly Father wants to see us grow up.
So what will he do with these offerings? Never mind, He knows what to do.

"After you have struggled a while, He Himself will mend that which is broken." 1 Peter 5:10 Greek New Testament

He is Great,
