When you were my baby, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you.

You were so small your head would rest into the palm of my hand and your feet wouldn’t even touch my elbow.

Every feature you had looked like the hand of God had carved you out so perfectly.

Your eyes were shaped just like your daddy’s eyes.

But you had my chin.

The profound shape of your widow’s peek on the top of your head was so very delicate.

Your cheeks were full and rosy.

Your lips were small and dainty.

Your head held soft wisps of just a hint of fine blond hair.

You were the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.

So soft.

So small.

I could not hold you until you were five days old.

But I could reach into the incubator and touch you.

And feel the warmth of your little body.

That’s when I knew what love was.

When I had you.
