God is love. This is His nature. His character is magnificent and loving. 1 John 4:16b tells us that God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. We want to be found to have God’s character, and to be like Him is wonderful. We want the nature of Jesus and to be able to possess His characteristics, this is just so awesome.

1 John 4:7 admonishes us to love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. We need to love one another and have God’s character of love, for everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. We want to be known as being of love and born of God. If we possess love, we possessed everything, because we have God on our side.

We can know this love if we are saved and know that this love is manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9. Yes, God loves us so much that He is willing to send His only begotten Son to bear our sins on the cross. For the sake of His love toward us, God is willing to do anything just to see us redeemed and saved by the power of Jesus’ death on the cross. We ought to be thankful that we are so awesomely loved by God.

1 John 4:11 says that if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. We must have agape (God’s kind of love) to love others, for this kind of love is complete. With this kind of love, when we are offended, we can choose to love instead of bearing anger, because God expected us to do so. Love neutralizes hate and acts as the opposite of hate. We overcome evil by being the opposite of what sin is. We choose to be like Jesus and walk in love because love is of Him.

Perfect love cast out fear, for fear has to do with torment, and he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18. We need God’s kind of love to love no matter what circumstances we are in. When we are in a trial, that’s where we need to be reminded that love rules all, and we need to cast fear aside.

Love is a powerful force that can change everything. It can help change relationship and mend broken hearts. It is a tool for friendship and with it we can be secured and happy. We need love for everything, and with it we can calm the raging sea and rule over ragged mountains. We can reign and conquer with Christ in His magnificent love and nothing that we do will be impossible. This is the kind of love we are talking, ruling magnificent love that conquers everything.
