Listen to the quietness on this peaceful day
before you close your eyes to pray.
Listen close and you shall hear
a grieving soul shead a tear.
For Death has turned the sun's rays to rain
flooding his gentle heart with pain.

Listen to the quietness and he'll call his name
for without his friend, nothing's the same.
Into the shadows he silently stares
searching for a friend who's no longer there.
He cries for the laughter no longer heard
and for the silence replacing a kind word.

Listen to the quietness as he dries his face
for he knows his friend was saved by God's grace.
In a place where sin has no lease
his friend now lives in peace.
When life's journey has come to an end
he'll stand in Heaven beside his friend.

Listen to the quietness on this peaceful day
for the memory of this friendship shall never fade.
Now this grieving soul opens his eyes to see
that his fallen friend abides in God's Majesty.
So, listen to the quietness on this peaceful day
to hear a comforted soul begin to pray.
