this land in which I live
this earth on which I tread
absorbs me
wraps itself around me
whispers in my ear
speaks to my heart

I cannot leave it
I cannot escape
I turn and there it is

this heartland
I feel his pulse
he draws me in, brings me back
like driftwood on a wave
but deeper
slower

this land
she breathes
and with each exhale
new plants are born
new dunes are formed
draining
sustaining
and so it all begins

rockstrong
sandsoft
soilessence

this earth this life
mother father lover home

this land in which I live

There's a risk of reading this and misinterpreting the words to be 'New Age' pantheism. But there are many verses in the Bible which refer to this world testifying of God's power and glory. It is God's creation and He sustains the world with His power, every second, every day. Through sunshine, water, air and soil, this ecosystem provides for our needs. We should be aware of how wonderful God's engineering is, and value it highly. It is another tangible sign of God's great passion for us!
