In What A Girl Wants (Ashley Stockingdale trilogy #1) by Kristin Billerbeck, Ashley is told by her married singles pastor that she’s either single for a season or single for a reason.
She thought for a while it was a season, but comes to the conclusion it’s for a reason–like she emits a foul stench.
Silicon Valley, CA is where her life takes place, and the valley is full of engineers who would much rather play video games and watch The Matrix incessantly, the pursue the female sex.

There’s balding Seth the engineer who Ashley is good friends with, but is very afraid that he will one day get Jesus and Frodo confused for each other, and is chasing a young girl who what to go to missions .
Ashley says her life “reeks like an onion” as she tries to find the reason while she is still single, and deals with a over-barring female boss that would love to work her to her grave.
Ashley gets sent by said boss to Taiwan for business, where she ponders a date with a hunk that just broke up with previously mention young missionary wanna-be.
But when she lands back in Silicon Valley, she sees that she’s suddenly being chased by three men instead of none!
Who is Mr. Right, though?

One scene in the book that was one of my favorite, I have to mention it. Ashley goes to a coffee house–I believe Starbucks–where there is a talent show sorta thing for her Singles group.
One guy gets up and does the Spock Dying Scene from Star Trek–talking to an imaginary Captain Kirk–and ends it with a rousing bagpipes rendition of Amazing Grace on his tape player.
I laugh so hard–maybe cause I know guys like that!

I found that Ashley’s scene of humor help her learn to let go and laugh at life–even though she thinks her life stinks.
She turns down a promotion, and moves out of her rat invested apartment so she can find the less-stress life she craves–one without sudden trips to Asia, maybe.

This book is ROTF funny and made me COL (cackle out load). It’s five big ol’ starts, and it’s coming dangerously close to taking the favorite book status away from A Girl’s Best Friend.

There are two sequels to this book and they are both great. My daughter and I love them. The second one-Ashley gets engaged. The third-Ashley gets married. They're both great too. Happy reading. Beth
