Truly, Lord, You have prepared my heart for war,
As my mind is filled with Your word,
My spirit is cleaved with Your own;
What You task me
You have prepared me for;
You set nothing before me
That would lead to my failing;
You mean all for my success,
The benefit of the brethren,
And, most of all, Your glory;

I strive not with flesh and blood,
But with that which may beset many;

I know my three enemies,
Within and without,
As I know You;

Here am I, Lord, as You beseech me;
I have the weapons You have given me;
I will fight with light;
Reprove with truth;
Uphold by faith,
And seek with prayer;

This, my mission:
To comfort the faint-hearted,
Uphold the weak,
Warn the unruly,
Be patient with all;

And I fight from the ground
You alone have gained;
Your cross is behind me,
And Your sword is before
Within me is Your Spirit,
With all spiritual wisdom;
With these in my midst,
What else is there for me but victory,
And peace at Your feet;

Thus, my stance is of peace;
Before me is Your face;
You make my face like flint;
And You have granted me an undaunted heart;

You reprove me, and uphold me,
And wound me to bind me;
You have tested me and blessed me;
My skirmishes are light afflictions,
As I wait for the immeasurable glory
To be found in me;

Here am I, Lord, as You beseech me;
I have the weapons You have given me;

Praise be to the God I have in common with Your children;
The uncommon Lord!
