THE NEW ME
The devil is constantly looking for me
Knocking at my door
He figures he will find the one that lived here before
But she’s gone
She packed her clothes and moved to a new city
Where, lust, deceit, and fornication, lies, adultery
And all the things of the flesh have been stomped under her feet
And thrown into a sea of forgetfulness
Never to be remembered again
I lost my flag in battle; I was blind and could not see
The devil was dancing with glee
My soul was floating in a dark alley
I could hear her screaming my name
I put my hands over my ears
And ran off and left her
I left her there in shame
Not only did I leave her there in shame
But I hammered new nails in my Saviors hands
At times I could hear his weeping spirit
I heard him call my name
But sin had covered my eyes,
The devil had played his game
But Lucky me
In a little church on the south side of the rail road tracks
I found the saints singing their victory song
Their flags held high
Their battlefield is stained and anointed
With the blood of Jesus
I found my flag, picked it up
Oh, now I remember his touch
His touch, is like no other
Now I am headed for higher ground
I am waving that flag round and round
As higher and higher I climb
The Prodigal girl has come home
My Master put me in a brand new garment
And fed me from a Kings table
I feel the scars as his wonderful fingers
Entwine around mine
And we run for safety into the light
He cuddles me close in the middle of the night
When I am so scared and alone
He makes everything all right
He says “Mary, I love you
My will be done”
He has also convinced me that I’m beautiful
Even though when I look in the mirror
I see a wrinkled up old woman
“But what do I see looking back”?
I SEE JESUS
He smiles and says, “Mrs. Beautiful where are we going today”?
You know that there is nothing that you and I cannot conquer today”!
Let’s handle it my way,
Let’s go do some planting, scatter the seed, and let me water it
For the earth is white, it’s harvest time”.
So I say to you “old ugly slew-foot”
Go ahead dangle the apple before my eyes
And I assure that it will whither up and rot in the pits of Hell
Where the devil and his angels gather
Around the burning ashes of sin sick souls
Who told my Savior, “No”
I will also tell you that a greater than David lives here
Yes, a greater than David
A greater than St. Peter lives here
Yes, a greater than St. Peter
The blood of Jesus cleansed me
His seed has been sown in my heart
He has given me a brand new start
When the devil comes knocking
I must not send out King David, James or John,
I must not send out King Solomon
And all his mighty Gold
I must send out Jesus
Because his blood has washed me and made me whole
Once again, I am whiter than snow
I love you Jesus with all my heart
And I will eternally praise you for rescuing me,
I was so confused, blind, and totally naked,
I was groping my way in the darkness
I could feel the devils rake
As he was picking me up, I saw his ugly smile
My arms were continually outstretched to sin
Then I heard this sound, this sound like the whistling wind
Ever so gently, I felt the end of A Shepard’s hook
As he gently pulled me back on board
I heard myself thanking him over and over again
Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord!!
I thank you Jesus,
Gentle Shepard, lover of my soul
Because you came hunting for me
You left the ninety and nine
I was wallowing in a sea of filth, eating with the swine
The lost sheep, scared and alone with no place to go
Except down, down, down, down, drowning
Drowning in sin, I left the safety of Gods shelter
The choice had been made, free will of mine
The dark muddy water was rushing over me,
Down, deeper and deeper into the clay I was sinking
Dark strands of earth and sea weed were suffocating my very being
I could feel the teeth of Satan as I was taking my last breath
With my very last heart beat,
I prayed, “God, please help me”!
Then I heard your voice,
sweet and tender calling me
The mud disappeared, the sea weed turned to beautiful golden strands of wheat
This voice like the movement of stilled water rushed over my soul
“Mary, where are you”? “Mary, where are you”?
Mary, Mary, Mary, my child, where are you?
Come my child, come and dine at the Kings table”!
Once again you offered me all your precious wealth
I came running back with a humbled heart
Because of your blood you shed at Calvary
I now have a brand new start!
