Brutally battered bodies found,
violated and their hands were bound.
One at a time
another crime
was uncovered, no clues were discovered.
The victims, in their teens,
could have all been beauty queens.
He would lie low for a time
then commit another crime.
Parents panicked and began to fear
for the lives of daughters dear.
No evidence to be supplied,
a shame the dead can't testify.
Another victim he would stalk;
but this one would live to talk.
On the stand she testified;
the murderer identified.
The jury foreman with no regret
Announced the sentence for him was death.
Now in his jail he cries and wails
this man for whom the system failed.

It could happen to you or happen to me
a case of "mistaken identity."
