I met a man
while walking one day,
he had no food,
no place to stay;

The shoe's he wore
were torn with holes,
a closer look
revealed no soles;

His beatup coat
was thin and old,
it bearly kept him from the cold,

At first glance,
he appeared to be scum,
a filthy begger,
a worthless bum,

But looking in his eye, I found,
the mark of wisdom,
a mind that's sound;

With rinkled hands,
he touched my arm,
to my surprise,
I was not alarmed,

"Out here" he said
I brave the wind,
as he blessed me with a toothless grin;

"It's just me," he said,
"alone,"
"a few years back,
I lost my home",
"no kids have I,
"nor precious wife,
"out here I roam,
"it tis my life.

He asked if I could spare a treat,
a tiny morsel,
a bite to eat,

"I have no nickle," I said, nor dime
"but what I have,
"what's mines is thines;
"It is my pleasure
to share with you,
"a tiny pot of onion stew,
"matter of fact,
"come share my home,
I turned around,
the man was gone.

months I searched,
both day and night,
the man I met was not in sight;

For several years
I prayed each day,
for the hungry man,
a place to stay.

late one evening,
I got a call,
to meet someone
at "Heaven's Hall,"
a beautiful home,
overlooking the sea,
a place I've often dreamed for me,

I met the man at "Heaven's Hall",
a well dressed man,
handsome, tall,
I realized quickly
as we start talking,
he's the stranger
I met while walking,

He spoke right up
and said to me,
"this house is yours now,"
"here's the key,"

As my eyes took in
the heavenly home,
I knew once more
the man was gone.

On a hook,
next to the door,
was the tattered coat
the stranger wore,

In the pockets,
I found a note,
within the contents
the stranger wrote:

"What you do onto others
was done onto me,"
"no greater blessing could ever be."

My heart raced fast,
emotions mingled,
for I just entertained an angel
