There's a blush on the cheek of young Katie Bliss
Whose heart beats wildly at love's first kiss.
O such passion and ecstasy this!
'Tis deep as the deep blue sea.

Katie's heart makes a vow, "I'll love only thee,"
But her love has a rival, the beguiling sea
That beckons and woos him, "Come sail away with me...
Sail away, sail away and be free!"

Now a look of adventure in her young sailor's eye
As he scans the horizon where ocean meets sky.
One backward glance to bid Katie good-bye...
Then he sails for the deep azure sea.

O the cry of Kate's soul now shattered by grief!
Sorrow and emptiness that find no relief
For he's stolen her heart beyond yonder reef...
And 'tis lost on the deep rolling sea.

Darkness descended on Katie that night.
No moon was shining; no stars lent their light.
Gale winds were howling with fury and might
As she walked out her door toward the sea.

Blinded by tears and haunted by sorrows
That blotted out hope of all her tomorrows,
What might have been mocked a heart void and hollow
And she stepped into the deep raging sea...

Sunrise, sunset... still the ship sailed on.
The memory of Katie now buried and gone,
For the sea spray hath kissed him, his soul now is one...
One with the deep blue sea.
