Come, Lord Jesus

Come, Lord Jesus,
and sit with me a while.
There is nothing I love more
than to think I’ve made You smile.
Come, Lord Jesus,
and let me know You’re here.
Whisper Your sweet songs of grace
into my listening ear.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Let me enter Your rest.
Let my heart be still for You,
the quiet place where You nest.
Come, Lord Jesus,
and sit with me a while.

Matthew 8:19-20 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

I had a dream that there were five children sitting around in a circle and they were praying. Then, suddenly the Lord was laying in their laps. Each of four held either a holy hand or a holy foot in their laps. And the fifth had His head laying in her lap. The Anointing, Himself, was literally resting ON them.

As He lay there, resting on those children's laps, those children began to boldly speak the Word to the multitudes of people who were gathered around. People were healed. People were saved. People were freed. Eyes were opened. Ears were opened. There was a greater anointing on those five children than I have ever personally witnessed on a grown man or woman.

Church, it is a foolish thing to think that we could follow the Lord in perfection. Peter was willing to follow Jesus "even to death." He meant that with all his heart. And yet, he did exactly what the Lord told him he would do and denied that he knew Him when He was being flogged. When we say, "I'll follow You to the very end, Lord," we do mean it with all our hearts. But the Word, in so many words, says rather that we should be more concerned with being His resting place. (Matthew 8:19-20)

The heart of a child, a selflessness, an innocent nature says "I'm not capable of walking in Your steps, Lord, because I'm just a child, but I want to be here for You and I want to be open to whatever You want to do with me. I'm listening. I want nothing more than I want just to be with You." And it is that humility that the Lord honors with His presence and His anointing. It was not children or the blind or the deaf or the sick or those whom He healed that crucified Him. It was religion. It was a religious attitude. It was an "I'll do it my way" attitude.

In that dream, it became very clear to me that those children had no idea that they were going to speak so boldly. They were simply praying for the Lord to feel welcome in their circle. He took His rest there because they loved Him and expected nothing, but certainly hoped for a moment of time to soak in Him. But we are changed in His presence. You can't stay the same and be in His presence. It isn't possible.

Let us not misinterpret 1 Corinthians 13:11-12 which says "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." The ways of a child and the heart of a child are two very different things.

No matter how old you are:

Hope like a child.
Dream like a child.
Play like a child.
Pray like a child.
Preach like a child.
Forgive like a child.
Love like a child.
Believe like a child.
Enter the Kingdom of Heaven,
not that which is seen with careful observation,
but the Kingdom of Truth and Love in the hearts of those on the earth,
that which is reserved for the CHILDREN of God.
In the most holy Name of Jesus,
LIVE like a child!

Then, child of God, then,
receive like a child.
A good father takes great joy in giving his children good gifts.
How much more does our Father in Heaven delight in blessing us?

Come, Lord Jesus.
Come.
You are welcome in this place.
Come,
my Exceedingly Great Reward,
and sit a while with me.
There is fullness of joy in Your presence.
Be present here.
Come sit a while with me.
