And yet another excerpt from the ebook, "Whispers" - featuring the angel Max:

Jim hung up his cell phone, making sure he hadn’t turned it off. He walked over to the ‘waiting’ section of the Emergency Room and sat down. He needed a moment before going back.

He took the time to pray…

Thank you, Lord. Thank you for friends. Thank you that Darren and Brian are on their way, no questions asked. But I’ve got plenty of questions, Lord. Why Cindy? Why now?

And even as he prayed he knew the answer. Satan was trying desperately to stop the Festival tonight.

But please, Lord, not Cindy.

“The waiting’s the hardest part, huh?”

Jim turned to a man sitting three chairs down. “That, and the not knowing.”

The stranger picked up his hat and walked over to Jim. He pointed to the seat next to him. “You mind?’

Jim shook his head, too tired and shaken to say no.

The stranger sat down, holding his hat in his lap. He looked over at Jim. “The not knowing…that’s easy.”

Jim couldn’t believe the statement, and the look on his face revealed his thoughts.

The stranger continued. “Your trust is in God, correct?”

Okay. Who is this guy? “Yeah, but…”

“Oh no, Jim…”

Don’t remember saying my name. Maybe he heard me say it when I was on the phone.

“…no buts. You either trust God…or you don’t.”

Okay, I’ll play, but just for a moment. “Look, Mister…”

“Max. Call me Max.”

“Okay. Look Max, I know you mean well. And I do trust God. It’s just that…that’s my wife in there…”

Max interrupted, “…and your baby. I know.”

Jim took a long look at this stranger, and his wife’s words come back to him, “I met a strange man today…knew I was pregnant…God sent him.”

“It’s okay, Jim. She’s your wife…she’s also God’s child. The time has come for you to put your trust in him, once and for all. When this whole thing started you prayed to the Master. You told him that you wanted to put him first, above all things. Well, Jim Mitchell, that means you have to trust him – above all things. Do this, and he will never let you down.” Max put his hand on Jim’s shoulder. “Now, get back in there, Cindy needs you.”

Jim nodded his head and smiled at Max. Slowly he rose from the chair and headed for the room where Cindy was.
He walked in. The doctor was talking to Cindy. They both looked at Jim.

“I was beginning to wonder if you were coming back.”

“Had to make a couple of calls,” Jim said, walking to Cindy’s side. He looked directly into her eyes. “And I ran into a stranger.”

The look on her husband’s face made her realize what stranger he was referring to.

Jim took Cindy by the hand as he looked at the doctor, who was standing at the end of the bed. “Well, doc?”
