Missionaries in the Air Force
My husband, Bob, has been in the Air Force for almost 18 years. He is a meteorologist working on his PHD.
The Air Force has done a lot of good for our family. We get a new house every 2-3 years. To all the ladies reading this that means a new kitchen. We travel to new places that we would not have a chance to go to. Our children will not be afraid of living anywhere. Some people never leave their home town even if it's not good for them. The best thing that has happened while being in the Air Force was being saved and learning how to live for Him.
Our journey with the Lord began in College Station, Texas while Bob was attending Texas A&M. We learned about God’s word and that we are to base everything on it. God’s word is the best lace to go for answers to questions.
One of the first things I do when we get PCS orders (finding out where we will be moving to) is to start praying. I pray about the schools our children will attend and for them to get the best teachers. I pray about the neighborhood where we will live. We want God’s will and direction for the house we will live in. I also start praying about a church in the area and for God to lead us to the place where He can use us.
Sometimes I don’t get a close friend in the place where God places us. I’m learning that’s okay nor that important. If I can keep my eyes on Him and make a difference in a life, that’s all that really matters. I tend to be the happiest when I’m encouraging someone or seeing a life changed for the Lord.
Bob and I have never been good at bringing people to church. We have found opening our home for fellowship with food, games, Bible study, prayer, good conversation, etc. is what we are good at. If you can get people in your church to fellowship together along with inviting someone who does not know the Lord, that spells revival. People feel they can hide holding a cup of coffee or a piece of cake. People will also open up easier if they are in your home at church.
I may not be the best soul winner, but if something I say or do encourages someone enough to not backslide, it’s worth it.
All the people I have known over the years have left an imprint on my heart and soul. It is usually for the good, but even in the bad the Lord has taught me great things.
Many of those people have taught us the things they have learned. We have been given insight to spiritual warfare, outreach, leadership, prayer, and the importance of reading your Bible daily. I want to make a difference in someone’s life like someone did for me. I desire to see people saved, grow closer to the Lord, walk in faith, and learn to completely trust in God.
It has been a long, hard journey. I do get tired and a little weary. I do, however, have to ask myself, “If you don’t do it, who will.”
I can say it is worth all I have paid or will pay for truth to go forth. As the old song says, “I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.”
