What does the pastor of a small church do when one of his men in leadership is physically and emotionally abusing his wife? I put this question before pastor of small church because it is a problem among them that they need to address. What is your position when the wife comes to you and says she is being abused by her husband? How do your find the truth?

First, I wrote this because there is to much silent in the church when a woman is abused by a man in leadership. So many pastor don't want to upset the flow of the church even at the expense of a woman phyically and emotionally life. He watch the life of the woman being taken from her Sunday by Sunday, yet he preachs deliverance and depended on the Lord.

God made you a shepherd of His flock, not just the men of the church. Go to God in prayer for direction. Consider having them come to your office as a couple. Try to find information of abuse program not only for the problem couple but for the congregation.

God loves his handmaids and well as his men. Seek wise and Godly advice of dealing with domestic abuse. If your church is small and there are other churches that about your size or smaller; start a support group. His Word said that when two or three are gather I am in the midst.

If the things are true, you have no other choice but to ask him to step down from his position and seek help. In almost all cases the total family will need to be healed. For this affects the wife and if they have children them also.

The saddest thing is that if she comes to you and says something and you do nothing. What happen if he kills her, is not her blood on your hands?

I pray that this will help someone and know that men get abused also. Please if they come to you don't turn a deaf ear because of how much money someone is giving to the church or how many of their families are members? Know that you were called by God and to Him you should please.
