. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth (John16:13)
13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
(Rom 8:13, 14)

One of the works and benefits of having the Holy Spirit is His guidance.
Life is full, awash with myriads of decisions to make. The quality of the decision we make can make or break us, the difference between failure and success. And if we will admit we don’t always get it right.

Jesus, before He left, promised those who believed, another Comforter- another Helper like Him.
As indicated above, He came to ‘guide us into al truth.’
How often we walk in ignorance of the truth of the word of God, while the Holy Spirit is ignored.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in Him:

“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John8:31-32)

Without the Holy Spirit there will be no knowing of the truth; and without the knowledge of the truth, we cannot be set free in many areas of our life.

We can see the practical outworking when He led Philip out from a flourishing ministry into the desert to speak to the Ethiopian Eunuch. Act8
4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city. Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.( Acts 8,13)

Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The place in the Scripture which he read was

He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
And as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away,
And who will declare His generation?
For His life is taken from the earth.”

34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”[
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea. (Acts8 26-40)

Without the Holy Spirit Phillip would have thought it absurd to leave what looked the perfect will of God because miracles signs and wonders were being wrought. But Phillip obey the leading of the Holy Spirit and went to the desert to lead that man to Christ.
Similarly Paul was on fire with passion for Evangelism but at one point on His way to witness, the Holy Spirit said, ‘No’. Later Paul had a dream and saw some one telling him to ‘come to Macedonia and help us,’ and that was how he knew the will of God.
6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.. (Acts 16:6-10)



The Holy Spirit knows you through and through. He knows the mind of the Father. He knows God’s plan for your life. He know where you’re going and how to get there.
Why struggle on your own?
Acknowledge Him today. Leave the driver’s seat and let Him take over. Trust Him. He has been a Pilot from the beginning of time. That is not to say you have no part to play. You just need to cooperate with Him, follow His bidding and leading. Learn to hear His still small voice on the inside of You. pray without ceasing. Tell Him how lost you will be without Him. Pray in the Spirit as well as in the understanding. Remember when you pray in the spirit you’re praying according to the perfect will of God.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Rom 8:26,27)
Finally God wants you to walk in His perfect will not in His permissive or acceptable will.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Rom12:1-2)

His leading will not always be logical, but when you follow it there will be an accompanying peace like a river. That is the acids test as to whether you heard from God. If you have no peace, there is a red light, a danger sign, you’re restless, forget it. Wait on Him a little longer. Waiting takes time but it pays fine.

The choice is yours and mine.
