DO YOU RECOGNISE IT?

Praying according to the pattern He gave us

Do you think that Jesus meant the prayer He gave us to be used as a recitation?
I don't! How can we make the Lord's Prayer individual to each of us?
Here's an example...


"My Father in Heaven (I know you are my Father because of the Lord Jesus and His death on the Cross of Calvary; I know that when I put my faith in Him I became reconciled to You - thank you for that, with all my heart)...

"I give You glory and honour Father because there is no other Name compares with Yours - Your Name is holy and far above all names and You deserve all praise and adoration.

"How much I long for the Lord Jesus to come back and set up His Kingdom - how much I long for Your physical intervention in the affairs of this world! How marvellous it will be when Jesus is crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords and occupies His rightful place in this world. I know you are waiting Lord, because You want everyone to repent and come to You, because it is not Your will that any should be lost and die eternally. Use me to tell others about You so that I can be Your instrument in bringing at least some people into Your Kingdom.

"Your will is done perfectly in Heaven Lord. One day it will also be done perfectly on earth; I so wish that I could do your will every day in my own life. Help me to know what Your will is for me and help me to want to do Your will and to do it without question.

"I thank you Father for providing the food I eat each day, but You know that 'Daily Bread' does not only mean 'physical' bread - it also includes spiritual and material needs - in fact, it includes any need we might have. Today Lord, in asking You to give me my daily bread, I'm asking You to provide a new job for me - You know how long I've been looking Lord and how nothing has come up. You know how desperate I'm beginning to feel, not only for myself but for Day as well! Thank You for knowing and thank You that you will provide what we need soon.

"Please forgive me for not walking with You as I should, for not witnessing effectively; please forgive my lethargy, my doubts and fears, for not trusting You as I should. Please forgive the anger and criticism and bitterness that stems from so many years ago. Help me to forgive those who caused the bitterness - help me to forgive because of Jesus and what He did for me. Help me to praise You more every day.

"Lord, please help me not to get into situations that lead to trials and temptations - please keep me safe from the enemy - help me to walk with You as I should.

"I come to You like this in prayer Lord (because of Jesus and) because the coming Kingdom belongs to You alone. You are all powerful, and all glory and honour and praise is also Yours, not only now, but for all eternity. Amen."
