The Carpenter’s Hands
The hands that created the trees
In the beginning, the third day
Were the hands that took that wood
And carved it in a special way.
They called Him ‘just a carpenter’
The Son of Joseph and Mary
But the same hands that made that wood
One day up the hill, He would carry.
The hands they stretched and nailed
To the wood of the cross He created
Were the hands that healed and loved
Even when He was sorely hated.
Those same hands still heal today
For all who will be carved by Him
Into the image of this Carpenter,
Whose precious hands were without sin.
