Dying to Self

Human nature does not like anything that causes us to suffer. Jesus said, “Whoever tries to keep their life, will lose it. But whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Mat 16:25
I don’t think Jesus meant to die in the literal sense, but to give up rule of our lives (die to self). If we try to keep a hold on any part of our life, God can not work through us to His fullest. If we do not give all we are to the Lord, It is like saying “ I believe you sent your Son to die for me on Calvary, but I am not ready to give myself completely to your will.” Our spirit is willing, but our flesh is not. We go to church. Worship the Lord. And cuss out someone in the parking lot for cutting us off. If the flesh were truly dead, we would let the person go ahead of us, or at least pray that the person will make it to where they are going in such a hurry. I believe that the devil waits at the door of the church to try a take our joy away from us as soon as we walk out. If we are dead to self, I believe we will be able to sense when we are under attack by the evil one. And we will be able to discern when others are under attack as well. I pray that we all can be in God’s presence all the time like the apostles were when they gave all of themselves to the Lord. Take my life Lord, I give it all to you.
