Would You Do This?


But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. Exodus 17:12

Perhaps you remember the story – Amalek decided to fight with Israel and as long as Moses held the rod in the air, the children of Israel prevailed. The second his arm went down, they began losing! So, as the story unfolds we see the obvious, he had to keep his arm raised with the rod in the air!

Moses was human and his physical body wore down! Thus, Aaron and Hur held his arms up! They could see what was going on, and reacted! They pulled a stone up for him to rest on, and in my minds eye I can see them standing next to him, holding up his arms! They were team players and that’s what team players do! They were of one mind and one accord and were working for the common goal – VICTORY!

So how does this relate to today?

We are in a spiritual warfare – the battle gets intense from time to time. How do you respond to those around you going through a battle? Do you lift their arms up in prayer? Do you stay it through with them (through prayer) until the battle is won?

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (II Corinthians 10:4).

In these last days, we need the Aarons and the Hurs to step up!

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6:18)

Captain of the Lord of Host! We recognize that the battle is Yours, nevertheless, we also know that we have a responsibility – if it were not so you would not have given us our armor (Ephesians 6)! Lord, help us to know when our brothers and sisters are in need of support and help us to react – by lifting them up through prayer! Help us to become like Aaron and Hur – willing to stay through the battle – holding up their weary arms until VICTORY is ours!!!!!
