Sweetness from Marah (Sfm2)

Marah had a water, bitter
Moses prayed and God showed a tree
The tree that turned winter, summer
Bitterness was turned to sweetness
A pointer to God’s forgiveness

Moses laboured under clamour
Uproar, murmur, grumble and rage
In anger they carried armour
‘Give us sweet water, not a curse.
Back to Egypt will be no loss!’

On the third day God’s plan unfurled
Just like Jesus’ resurrection
After he died for the whole world
And the tree, a type of the cross
Where He took away all the curse

God always has a good purpose
When He allows bitter Marah
It is foolish then to oppose
And try to shoot the messenger.
Rather better to surrender.
