His Finger Prints Are Everywhere!

It was the first day of September, 2006 when Linda Christian invited her friend Gwen Henry to an art show at Oklahoma City University. Gwen readily accepted Linda’s invitation even though she did not know much about art and even less about the abstract variety. Gwen, Linda learned, was a part-time art buyer and critic. She thought this would be an opportunity for her best friend to learn about the art world and how people purchase art for personal collections or museums.

Paintings in vivid colors hung on the white walls and a variety of mixed sculptures were arranged with care on the college museum’s floor or elevated on art stands. As Linda and Gwen wandered slowly around the spacious room, Linda pointed out some basic principles of color and design. In a matter of minutes, Gwen turned to Linda, “Say Linda! The art and sculpture in this museum is really very interesting but titles like ‘Patterns of Flowers’ and ‘Man’ aren’t helping me at all,” Gwen complained. “I wish they would come up with a short statement to tell us who do not have much of a background in art and sculpture what the artist or artists were thinking and what they are trying to convey.”

Linda looked at Gwen, astonished. “Gwen, it’s already there in the art. The master said what he or she wanted to say. Now they want the viewer to try to hear and see what that is by looking and thinking about what he or she has done.”

That day’s lesson kept coming back to Gwen as she thought about how God shows Himself in millions of things all around the world and universe. Now everything in the world comes with a label that says “I made or built this. God” The human observer will see this when he or she steps back, look and pray and gives themselves a chance to hear what the First Artist is saying to humanity in His Work. His fingerprints are everywhere if one would just look!
