My parents wear “Halos”

I went to the Lord a night ago and said “Lord , what is the biggest tug in the hearts of our youth” This is what the Holy Spirit revealed to me as I heard the voices of the young in chorus say ,
“I wish my parents were not like this”

I continued to ponder .What does this mean ? Many young people wish an alternate life from Christ for their parents .They wish their parents would ease off ,take a chill pill and leave them be. They wish their parents would not be hard and fast with rules. They wish their parents will stop smothering them . They wish their parents will leave them at home rather than drag them to church. They wish they were allowed to do as their friends do. They wish that they could do anything that they want to .

An alternate life without Christ and his holiness and no Christian rules for their parents will be just fine for our youth . Well , that is what their minds tell them and the world shows them. What they fail to realize is the sweet concept of covenant that their parents keep to God that urges them to bring up their children in the ways of the Lord.

Godly and word driven parents are the passion and stepping stones behind great men and women of God. The desire of every parent is for their kids to obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory (2 Tim 2:10). Right now , it would be easier for young people if all parents just ease off but the crevice created leaves a foothold for the devil to get in and pluck these lives from the fullness of Christ.

Young minds don’t understand and their frivolous attempts of maturity may prove that instant decisions may give one a lifetime of heartache. I work with the youth in our local church and whenever I look into their eyes , I see a “No-one understands” look .If they only know that every action the church takes and every holy precedent parents instill in lives is for the Lord’s integrity and uprightness to protect these lives .

The present day world is a fast , advancing pressure cooker and the tug of time and the tug of maturity is slowly closing in and the boundaries of moral living is being broken and lines are crossed . The good fight of faith , taking hold of eternal life is being lost amidst the need to belong.

Young people are losing sight of their predestined life ,neglecting the good gift that God has specifically placed in each of them uniquely. Godly parents are presently swimming against the tide of the modern day trend to prevent the road ahead from being one paved with unnecessary hurt and disappointments .

Parents don’t wear halos because they are perfect and have never done anything wrong. Parents don’t wear halos because they are super , spiritual beings that don’t know the pressures of being young. Parents don’t wear halos because they are without sin . Parents don’t wear halos because they don’t fall into temptation. Parents don’t wear halos because they are boring and don’t know how to have fun.

Parents wear HALOS because they are designated and ordained as guardian angels of their child’s life and will one day , give an account of the good deposit they were entrusted with to bring up as an instrument and vessel of God’s glory.
To all Godly parents out there, be steadfast , immovable and dependant on God’s instruction to raise your children. Your kids have many friends and don’t need another friend. What they need is a mum or dad. The powerful prayer of a mother curbs children into paths of righteousness and truth. You rather have your kids not understanding you now but one day thanking you for your guidance.

Your rod and staff , use them both , draw them in when they are lost , comfort them when they are sad ,and discipline them to keep them on heaven’s highway.
