His eye is on you
By Hazel Moodley
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9).
I am reminded of a few weeks ago when my daughter Hailey was a participant in their school local athletics. When I got to school, I stood at the finishing post. I stood and watched her, get to the line, fall into place, get ready, set and go. The nervousness on her face as she was ready to go, the strength in her running as she sped ahead, the passion in her agility to finish was truly apparent .She had my ultimate attention and my eye was constantly on you .There I stood, hands clasped close to my chest, tears in my eyes, praying Lord, let her be victorious in this race. My heart whispering, no matter what position, she takes, I will tell her, I am so proud of you for finishing the race.
As the race came to a close, she pushed ahead and received the prize.
When Paul looked at his life, he envisaged himself to be like an athlete running a race. In this proclamation of him, being about his father's business, his heart yearned to finish the race. Today, I want to address all of you that are running this race and have become weary in doing good, to picture the finish. Even as I stood and watched my daughter finish the "race", my heart was overwhelmed with excitement, my eyes welled with tears of joy.
God , your father is standing at the finish line , Jesus , his son , is standing at his right hand , saying on your behalf , Father , give them strength to endure and grace to overcome.
The Finish line is perhaps a hard concept for us to grasp. Maybe the idea of the finish line seems a little shabby even to you, it is because you don't know what you are talking about or you are not able to imagine what lies in wait for you as an athlete in the kingdom track. The prize is beyond our imaginations, hopes and dreams"
Until the day when eternity becomes the present, we must continue to approximate it with the best that we can offer to the Lord. But one day we will reach the finish line only to experience the fullness of God's holiness, and it will be unlike anything we have ever conceived when we started running.
The Father in heaven is going to put his loving arms around you and say "Well done, my good and faithful son/daughter. I watched you run. I saw the anxiety, pain and anguish as she neared the end. I was right there, ready to catch you if you fell, ready to embrace you if you cried. I marveled at your endurance and when you finished, I was waiting to tell you, how proud of you I am, that you finished.
Being set apart for the Lord's glory possesses the mark of your covenant with Christ Jesus. Unlike the world's athletics were physical strength must be leveled to excellence, God has marked out a track just for you, for your abilities, your proficiency and you alone.
His eye is on you and he will step in on time, never allowing you more than you can handle. You will overcome with the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. Hallelujah
Keep running; the finish line is just ahead.
