Dinnertime was not an easy thing for a little boy named, Ben.
Every night his mom would serve something that Ben did NOT like to eat.
Ben knew that he should be thankful to God for his food. But some nights Ben’s mom served food that Ben would have to pinch his nose and turn away.

Some nights it was fried fish with peas.

Other nights it was tofu lasagna and salad.

And there were nights it was a mixture of stuff that Ben didn’t even know what was all in it!

Every night his mom would say, “Ben, don’t you want to grow up to be big and strong?”
Ben would reply, “Yes, mom.” But he would continue to push his food around his plate, and wouldn’t eat.
One night at dinner, Ben’s mom served Ben’s most unfavorite dinner in the WHOLE wide world…
MEATLOAF! Ben was a very unhappy boy as he watched his mom place the meatloaf on the table. To make things even worse they had peas and mashed potatoes, too!
As his family prayed together to thank God for their food, Ben couldn’t help but to pray to God to help him eat the food put before him.
After the prayer, Ben just sat in his chair. He stared at his food. His dad saw that Ben was not eating so he said, “Ben, you will have to sit at the table until you have finished ALL your dinner.”
Ben’s family finished eating. They left Ben to sit at the table with his dinner all alone.
Ben stared at his plate. He picked up his fork. He slowly moved his fork towards the mash potatoes, when all of a sudden…
his mashed potatoes started to form into a huge lion. “Roaaaaarrrr!”
Ben stumbled in his chair, almost falling backwards and onto the floor. He immediately held his up his fork to the lion. Ben became like a lion tamer at the circus. Quickly and easily he tamed the lion and placed him into a huge cage.
Ben then moved his fork over to his peas. He stared at them and began to take his fork over the peas. He made them roll all about his plate. When all of a sudden…
the peas became a roller coaster ride full of passengers. He screamed along with the passengers as the ride rolled along his plate. He moved them along quickly and easily. They disappeared into a dark tunnel where the ride came to an end.
Ben then moved his fork to the meatloaf. He sighed, “Meatloaf.” He slowly moved his fork towards the meatloaf, when all of a sudden…
it turned into a monstrous dragon. The dragon was huge and had ketchupy-red tomato fire breath as it breathed. Ben used his fork to place the dragon on a huge leash. He tamed the dragon, quickly and slowly he took him for a walked him into the castle.
“Ben finished his dinner!” Ben’s sister announced to their mom and dad.
His parents looked at Ben’s plate, and he had indeed finished his dinner!
“So, Mom, what are we having for dinner tomorrow night?” Ben asked his mom, but silently he prayed, “Thank you, God, for helping me finish my dinner.”
