Grief
I lost my sunglasses today.
This is more than annoying,
more than expensive,
more than dangerous,
given
the pouring down,
driving down,
raining down,
sunshine of
my late southern summer.
This latest loss...
is my uncovering,
And my undoing.
I can no longer cry in anonymous peace.
If I weep…
it will be seen.
If my wiped-away tears,
leave Cleopatra tails at the ends of my eyes…
it will be seen.
If my eyes are wreathed in dark circles,
from the absence of dreams,
it will be seen.
I lost my sunglasses today…
And
until I can cry again
in peace,
without being seen,
I am lost,
Undone,
Uncovered
Until
they
are
found.

Kim..I love this piece as I do all that I have read of your work. Can I say that I prefer the double/triple? spacing of the other articles as such deep emotions I found needed to be read more slowly. Just a suggestion- but the other format worked better for me.
