Well, are you afraid? Every day we are pounded with a barrage of images depicting death and destruction. All we see on the news is bad, bad, bad. I don’t even watch the news and I still hear about all this misery. You can’t escape it. What does all this mean? There is so much information out there about end time prophecy and all this Middle East conflict. What is the truth? Is Jesus coming soon? Are you and I in danger? What is next?

Christians and non-Christians alike ask me the above questions all the time. The answer is I DON’T KNOW. But, what I do know is Jesus is in control and everything that is happening to our world is pre-ordained by God Himself and all that is happening is suppose to be happening. So, knowing all that, I am not afraid. I even go as far to say that worry is a sin. Jesus said, “My peace I leave with you.” He has no desire for us to be afraid. He is not the God of fear and confusion, but of peace and assuredness. If you are in constant worry and fear you do not trust Him. You must, I repeat, you must go to Him about every situation and every thought and every fear.

This is where we as modern day Christians fall short. Prayer! That’s right prayer. Not asking God to always give you something, but to be always in constant communication with God Himself. This is what He wants. He wants to be a father to us. He desires for us to be near Him and to depend fully upon Him. If you live in fear and confusion, you are living a lie sent from hell itself.

I find myself aggravated with Christians that live in fear. I don’t understand it. Yes, I’ve been afraid, yes I worry, but I don’t live in it. I am forty-four years old and I have developed a worry free philosophy that goes something like this.

“If you have a concern, take care of it, and then you will have nothing to worry about.”

A concern is a legitimate event. For example: I cut my finger and I am concerned that it might bleed too much or get infected. I clean it well, apply pressure and I have taken care of my concerns. No problem. If I cut my hand off and a dog eats it, then there is nothing I can do about it, so there is nothing to worry about. Make sense? I know that is crude, but effective.

So, let’s all turn off the news, throw out the newspaper and spend more time reading God’s word and more time in real communication with Him. I promise you that the more time you really spend in His presence, the less important every thing else in life will become.

Oh, yea, the end is near, but so what. That just means we are one step closer to heaven.
