Father,
The virtuous wife of Proverbs
For my husband I long to be.
I desire to be his pride and joy
For my greatest blessing is he.

Let me walk in humble submission
Recognizing him as my head.
Away O wicked rebellion!
I'll give him obedience instead.

Let me renew the vow I made him
To be faithful, pure and chaste.
The affection that to him belongs
On others I will not waste.

Let me do him good, not evil,
All the days of my earthly life,
Til death has caused our parting
And I cease to be his wife.

Let integrity mark my character
Bringing honor to his name.
May my speech and conduct before his peers
Never bring reproach or shame.

Let me walk in spiritual loveliness,
Not worldly vanity,
But a priceless inner beauty
Shining forth through eternity.

Let my life be ruled by wisdom
Gained by hours of fervent prayer.
I'll bring stability to his life...
Not anxiety or needless care.

Let my smile be an invitation
And my heart an open door
Where he'll find love, understanding, comfort,
Companionship and so much more.

Let my heart be filled with thankfulness
For all his hands provide.
I'll make his home his castle
Where contentment shall abide.

Yes, that virtuous wife of Proverbs
Is who I long to be.
What joy to hear my husband say,
"My heart safely trusts in thee."
