Broken Wings

Sometimes when I am weary,
And my heart longs to feel you near:
It’s hard to focus on the cross,
where your life you freely gave.

Trials and heartache come
fiercely at me still.
Trying to stop the witness
of this once lost soul you saved.

Satan would like to see me fall.
Doubters would like to see me bend.
Friends support me through this time,
Though the tears sometimes fall,
I know in you my heart will mend.

Broken wings taught to fly;
upon your love so true.
An innocence, you brought into my life,
A heart you have renewed!

Grace has brushed upon my brow,
Mercy has caressed my soul.
Oh but for the blood you spilled,
I would have never been made whole.

Behind this mask of mercy born,
Lies a soul once lost in pain.
Until destiny brought me to Christ,
No more in sin is my life now stained.

Satan would like to see me crumble,
Enemies would like to see me break.
Friends know I’ll make it through this fire.
In Christ all things I can surely take.

Broken wings I once knew,
Before your sacrifice made me whole.
Forgiveness you granted when your
Grace and mercy cleansed my soul
