Short Stories
The following excerpts are taken from a scrawled message in the back of a hymnal. It was found in the desert by an American Marine and can currently be viewed in it’s entirety in the Washington Museum. The name of the author is unknown.
The Truth will set you free. Yet how can it if you don’t believe it? In your heart you are content with your ignorance and your captivity. If you are not free how can you fight those who bind you? I will tell you the truth. Whether you believe it or not are your choice. You have to know what you are up against in order to fight back. I can not force you to believe the things I tell you, although I wish that I could, for your time is almost up. The war shall soon be over, even though many of you don’t even realise it is taking place. As the final battle approaches sides must be chosen, and not choosing is not an option. I am holding it off for as long as I can, but the end is coming, ready or not.
You might think that I am crazy, but I encourage you to read on. For what will you lose if you do? A few minutes maybe, but nothing more. If I am right and you don’t discover the Truth, you will surely perish. I am very sane. Saner than most, and if that is correct, you have reason to be afraid.
The enemy is very real. He has infiltrated everything. When you watch the television, he is there. When you listen to the radio, he is there. He has even made it into government. Do not make the mistake of thinking that I am referring to some kind of secret society. He of whom I am talking is far greater than that. In fact you will find that he controls even them. He will use his power to bring your destruction as well as the rest of mankind. Even in this darkness there is hope. We have an ally in this war. I met with the enemy before I met the other.
I always knew I was different. I felt cut off from humanity. I wished I was someone else, I wished I could be like you. There was something inside me that screamed “I’m not like them.” Then a voice inside me would cry out “You will never be like them. You are worthless.” In my mind the voice would repeat this over and over again. Everywhere I went I would hear it. I would watch them as they tore into each other. Rip someone down to lift themselves up. The more there were in the one group, who could come up with a quick comeback the more power was wielded and the more popularity was achieved. The whole concept seemed foreign to me. It felt like I had someone standing in front of me, screaming at me in Japanese, and slapping me every time I didn’t respond. The voice on my inside refused to stop its maddening mantra. So that day I had planned to stop it myself.

The following excerpts are from the Histories of Hell author/s unknown.
“Baal what do you do for the King?” He posed the seemingly innocent question.
“I serve him his meals.” Baal replied in front of the crowd.
“Really? You feed him? Didn’t he say we were his friends? Not simply his playthings that he may cast aside at a moment’s notice? Nor simply a slave that he can force to do his bidding? He said friends didn’t He? Baal do you command your friends to do things?”
“No, but…” He was cut off.
“Neither do I! We are nothing more than his slaves. Nothing more than his playthings. Have you not all heard his newest plans? We are to be cast aside for these new creatures. We are his perfect creations. Did he not say that?”
The crowd yelled back in agreement.
They stood in his mansion, hanging off his every word. His beauty alone held their attention, then his eloquent words captured their imagination. “If we are his perfect creations why should he need to create something else? Does slavery suit a perfect creature? No! Now imagine a better place. Imagine a reality where you a free to do as you wish and you can have your every desire. Can you picture it Kesef? What about you Baal?”
“Yes.” They chorused.
“If we are really valued He will honor our request.”
“He would never allow it and he obviously doesn’t care about us at all.” A voice called out from the crowd.
He smiled as he continued. “No I think your right friend. But then we need a new leader, but who among us is capable?”
“You!” the same faceless voice cried out.
“Oh no. I could never.” He drew in a big breath and stood looking as if he was contemplating.
“I suppose there is really no other option. For your sake my brothers I will accept. Now here is the plan…” He had his army.

My parents had fought with boring regularity. My father was an alcoholic and my mother a gambler. Each one thought that the other’s addiction was the worst thing in the world. Between the two of them there was hardly enough money for food. Our small decrepit house looked as if it might come down at any moment. The hallway felt as if the walls were closing together as I walked down it that day.
The house was unusually silent, except in my mind where I could never find solitude. The voice was louder than usual.
“Why do you even try? You will never fit in. Never! No body likes you, not even your parents. You are insignificant. If it weren’t for you they would get along. You will never be like them. You are worthless.”
I saw them as soon as I walked in. My parents were kneeling on the ground. Tape covered their mouths and their eyes were blindfolded. I stood in front of them, mouth open in astonishment. Their hands were bound together behind their backs. A figure stood in between them staring at me. His cold gray eyes blazed with hatred, hatred for me. With a smile on his face he held an archaic looking sword. I stood unsure how to react to the surreal situation unfolding in front of me. Why? What did I do to make him hate me? Questions raced through my head, but found no answers.
“This should be a familiar scene for you by now.” He sneered. “Us standing between your parents and keeping them from you.”
“What?” I spluttered.
“We are what humanity fears. The little children scared of the dark, they are scared of us. We are what make the dark unnerving. We are the unknown, yet so many of you know us, you just don’t realise it. I am Fear. You want out of your life and we are your only hope. We are the way, the truth, and the life. Join us and I won’t harm them.”
“Who the hell are you?”
“You humans are so frustrating! I just told you that. I will kill them.”
“What do you want me to do?”
“That’s better simply repeat these words ‘Lucifer into your hands I commit my spirit.’ That is all you need to do.” The dark figure replied.
“Yes do it. Then maybe you will finally amount to something.” Out of spite for the voice I made the decision to not do it.
“Join us or I will end his miserable existence!” Fear yelled in frustration.
“Go ahead. As if I care anyway.” I said hoping to call the bluff.
“I’m not bluffing. Join us!”
“Go screw yourself!” I yelled back.
The sword entered my father’s back in between his shoulder blades, slicing through his spine easily. He attempted to scream around the gag as he rolled around the floor, his blood soaking the carpet.
“Do you care now? Your mum is next.”

Three days later they stood before him. There were thousands of them. He did a quick count. A third of the entire population, he estimated. A smile lit his handsome features.
“Draw your weapons for today we march! No longer will we live in slavery. We will burn the gates down and we shall destroy the tyrant and claim his throne. His blood shall run down the streets before the day is out. We will have freedom!”
Each point was followed by a cheer from the crowd.
“Now we march for what is rightfully ours, freedom!” With a bone-jarring roar the crowd took to the streets.
“Stop! We know what you are doing. You will not succeed. We will stop you here.”
“Michael.” His voice dripped with contempt. “Dear Michael you are far to late to stop us. You are better than this. You are among the wisest of us. Join me and you will have the position of second in command.”
Michael’s army stretched out behind him as he yelled “Surrender now and we won’t have to do this. You are not as powerful as you imagine. You will not find victory here Lucifer. You will find nothing, but your own death.”
“We shall see who has the power when you are dead at my feet.”
“Can’t you see it for yourself? Death hangs off you. Darkness clings to you. Your mind is filled with your own deceit you foul serpent!”
“Darkness is power. Charge!”
Lucifer’s army sprinted forward and attacked. He flung himself into the fray. His sword smashed through armor and shields, and severed flesh, as he worked his deadly dance through the ranks of the enemy. Michael’s army was being beaten back, overwhelmed by the hate-filled warriors. Michael and Lucifer circled, sizing each other up, looking for weakness. A body hurtled through the air and hit Michael in the back. Michael stumbled forward and fell to the ground. Instantly he was in there with his sword flashing. He cut deeply into Michael’s arm, but then his sword was being beaten back. Michael pushed aside Lucifer’s sword and pierced him through his side. He fell to the ground as Michael stood triumphantly over him.
“Lucifer you have committed the sin of pride, murder, and you have tried to kill me. For this you shall be cast out. With you shall go the third of my angels you managed to deceive. You may no longer be in my presence. Go!”
Clutching his bleeding wound, Lucifer and his army walked out of heaven. Angels stood on either side as the army passed out the gates. The gates slammed shut behind them. No longer open to them.

Tears wet the side of my face as I watched my dad. All power of reason left me as I charged at the cold figure that stood with his sword dripping of my father’s blood.
“No!” I screamed as I ran at him.
He laughed as he threw his sword to the side and braced himself. I tackled him around the waist and drove him into the wall. Plaster fell at the impact then he pushed me off and looked unfazed.
“Is that the best you have got? I just killed your dad. Come on!”
My fist flew into his jaw, quickly followed by my other one connecting with his gut. He didn’t even move from my pitiful attempt. His arm shot out and lifted me by the throat. My feet dangled in the air as he held me in his grasp. He threw me across the room. I hit the opposite wall and landed on the coffee table breaking it into pieces. Pain racked my whole body.
“You can’t win, join us. I’m not leaving here without you. We will be the winning side. Join me or your mom will die.”
“Five seconds then she dies.” He replied slowly walking towards me. “Five.”
My hands felt through the wreckage of the coffee table hoping for a suitable weapon.
“Four.” He continued towards me.
“Three.” He couldn’t reach her now.
“Two.” I found a large piece of wood.
“And one.” He stood directly in front of me. Behind him I saw my mom contorting in pain.
“No!” I jumped to my feet and swung at his head. My mom’s body lay still. The blow to his head did nothing to him. He just stared at me.
“Did you notice that God didn’t save them? He doesn’t care about you. We do. We will help you.”
“You just killed my family you sick bastard.” That was all I managed to squeeze out before the rage took over my body. It filled and consumed me. I lost all control and I felt myself swing again. The wood broke over his head. He reached to his head with puzzlement and found that his hand came away slick with blood.
“But he is a mortal.” Fear muttered, staring at the blood.
He again grabbed me and threw me across the room without taking his eyes off his hand. I landed on the floor in the blood of my dad, sliding to a halt next to the figure’s sword. I could not take my eyes off of it. It seemed to be drawing me to it. I grabbed the handle and jumped to my feet. I ran towards him, as he stood there still amazed at the blood on his hand and the pain in his head. His sword sliced neatly through his arm and into his neck. There it stuck. Fear dropped to the ground, surprise still covering his face.
I vomited violently before collapsing onto my knees. I buried my head in my hands and wept. They were both dead and I had just murdered their killer. Then I heard a different voice. “Get up and get out of here. They are coming for you and they won’t stop till you are gone.”
“I will finish it for them then.” I shuffled forward on my knees and pulled the sword out of Fear’s neck. I positioned the end over my heart and drove it in.
Nothingness. Darkness. Then a blast of hot searing light. Then fire, pain, and a thousand screams filled the air and pierced my ears. I found that my voice was among the screaming as the fire ate away at my flesh. It ate away the flesh yet the flesh was still always there to be eaten away. It consumed my clothes in half a second and continued searing and consuming my flesh. I screamed and screamed. The pain wouldn’t stop. There was nothing but darkness and fire. Fire that made no light. Above the screaming I heard laughter. They shouted my name and laughed some more. “It isn’t about death. Don’t you get it yet?”
There was a flash then the pain was gone.
“It is not about death. It is not even about you. It is about the souls of the human race.”
I stood in my lounge room with the sword hanging limply from my grip I didn’t have a scratch on me, let alone a burn. A faint smoky odor clung to my clothes.
“Run and don’t stop till you get to the end of this street. Then take a right.”
I thought about it. What other option did I have? I couldn’t even kill myself, and just thinking about the pain I had just endured made me want to vomit. I ran out the door and onto the road. That’s when I saw them. They laughed, exhilarated by the coming kill. The laughs unnerved me. I had heard those laughs before. I finally understood who they were. I turned and ran.

To destroy the human race Lucifer would send someone who would pretend to be the Son of God. This ‘anti-Christ’ would continue to deceive the human race and lead them to their destruction. Lucifer hated them with a passion that was only rivaled by His love for them. He wanted to end their world.
<><><><><><>
Houses flashed by as I sprinted down the street. They were right behind me. I pushed myself harder and started to distance myself from them, but I couldn’t keep going like this. Coming up on my right I saw an old man with hedge clippers clipping his bushes. He looked into my eyes and raised the hedge clippers to his neck.
“This is your fault!” he yelled. I looked away as his screams filled the air. I kept running. There was the end of the street. I swung to the right. I knew where I was being led. I raced up the big white stairs, flung the heavy wooden door open, and then slammed it closed behind me.

“We had him! He couldn’t have just waltzed out of here. Now if one of you doesn’t find out where he is I swear I shall kill you all.” He screamed
A quivering demon approached his throne. “WHAT?!”
“He killed Fear. We had a group chasing him, but he is hiding in an empty church and they can’t get in. They are waiting for him to leave the building.”
“How did he kill Fear? He is meant to be human. That’s against the rules. Kill him as soon as possible. No more trying to get him on our side. He has probably communicated with Him by now.”
<><><><><><>
The vacant pews stretched out in front of me.
‘Now what?’ I thought.
I sank down and waited. Time flew by as nothing happened. I looked around. A cross had been hung on the wall at the front of the church. Light streamed through the window, creating a cross-shaped shadow, which fell around me, positioning me in the middle of it. I shuffled to the right and sat back. A stained glass window depicted angels battling demons, with Jesus leading the angels into battle.
It hit me like a truck. My parents were dead because of me. The old man was dead because of me. All the death was my fault. Tears rolled down my cheeks. Who the hell was I that all these people were killed because of me? Not only was I a failure, death was chasing me and wouldn’t discriminate against who it killed to get me. “What the hell do you want with me?” I yelled. My scream echoed back at me through the vacant building,
Why was this happening to me? The cross seemed to be taunting me.
“I am no one and I like it that way!”
“No you don’t. You know in your heart that you are meant for something greater than the life you have been living. I made you, and you were created to soar.”
“Where were you when I needed you? Why show up now? And what the hell does that even mean ‘soar’? You screwed up when you made me.”
“I was always there for you. All you had to do was ask for my help. I have never screwed up, and now it is time for you to rise to your purpose. I created you because I created Lucifer. Lucifer is the only angel who can create. All humans can create. Angels have other abilities. You also have those abilities. You are here to help humanity. You are Lucifer’s opposite. He is ready for the end. He wishes to draw me into battle, but it is not yet time. You must provide humanity with more time.”
I sat in silence and let it sink in. “What? Don’t I get a choice in the matter? Screw this!” I rose to leave.
“You are with him or me. He owns the fence. This is your identity. Accept it.”
I turned back to the cross and asked “How am I meant to get humanity more time?” I sighed, resigned to the fact that there was no point arguing.
“Fight him and his army. Draw him after you. I will be with you. Trust in me. Faith can move mountains. Spread your wings and soar like an eagle. Draw your sword and bring my wrath down upon the enemy.”
As I walked out the door of the church my eyes were opened, for the very first time. Thousands of angels and demons battled in the sky above. The battle raged high in the air, and bodies of the deceased plummeted to the ground below. The sky was dark with clouds, and rain poured down in a torrent of chaos. Both armies were suffering heavy losses. Humans were oblivious of the battle that was taking place around them, oblivious of the chaos that surrounded them.
It dawned on me the angels were there to protect me. I had to help them. A new force of demons flew towards the battle to join, and the angels’ numbers were quickly thinned under the onslaught.
Demons flew down at me but were intercepted by angels. “How can I help them?”
“I already told you what to do. Here is a sword.” A sword dropped from above and landed at my feet. “Now fly up there and begin fighting the war you were created to fight.”
“Right, I just fly up there.” I mumbled as I picked up the sword. “So, how do I fly?” No answer came. I glanced up just in time to see another angel body plummet to the ground. I ran forward and threw myself into the air. Suddenly I was flying. I gazed at my glorious seven foot wingspan as I flew upwards to join in the aerial combat.
The battle was intense. All around me the bodies of angels fell. The demons swarmed towards me, encouraged by the sight of their prey. They circled me and I felt my sword begin to lash out. It glided through the air and parried their attacks. I put my strength into a parry and drove my sword into a demon’s now defenseless stomach. They stopped momentarily surprised. I used their pause and attacked the remainder of the circle. I quickly cut through them.
A cheer went up from those around me and glancing up I realised why. The dark clouds dispersed letting the sunshine down from above. A rainbow stood out in the blue sky. A new squad of angels rushed down to join the melee. We fought our way through the demons. When about thirty had died at my hand, they turned and retreated. Another cheer went up from all around me.
<><><><><><>
“What do you mean they killed three forces? How do you get off thinking that’s cause for you to retreat? You stupid fool!” He turned from the captain bowed in front of him. “What did you expect? Mercy? Forgiveness? And did I give you permission to look at me? Lower your gaze.” With his back still to the captain, he drew his sword. “You seemed to be a promising individual. Maybe you still can be. What do you think?”
The captain seemed surprised, suddenly filled with hope. Quickly recovering, he tried to redeem himself. “I am so sorry. I will do anything you say. I won’t make another mistake. I am a promising individual and I will prove that! I will kill him!”
“Really? So that’s what you think? Well I must say I disagree.”
With that he turned and sliced through the captain’s neck. Lucifer turned to his second in command Baal.
“Execute the whole force that retreated. My army shall not be made up of cowards.”
Sitting back on his throne, he massaged his temple. This human was driving him nuts. He may have to deal with it personally. He had a few more tricks up his sleeve. After all he was the prince of the earth and he wasn’t about to lose to a mortal.

“He would have it ended now. Destroy Babylon and his plan will be momentarily disrupted. Lay waste to the whole city in my name, for they have said in their hearts that they are greater than I am. It is not in his time, but mine. Remind him.” With that, I headed towards the Middle East.
Babylon stood basking in the sunlight.
“How do I destroy a whole city?” I asked.
The idea that popped into my skull seemed stupid, but I had nothing to lose. I flew towards the center of the city. It was a swirling mass of humanity. I questioned my actions; surely so many would perish. How could this be His will?
I landed in a clearing next to a large fountain. My wings disappeared back into my body and I drew my sword. It was a dumb idea, how could it work?
Suddenly hundreds of eyes were on me. They gathered in a circle around me and stared at the stranger holding a sword pointed towards the ground. I sighed and stabbed.
Nothing happened so I pushed down the sword and I forced it in to the sandy ground up to the hilt. People began to laugh and point. I avoided looking at their mocking faces and pulled my sword out. Suddenly the earth moved under our feet. It just swayed a little and everyone fell silent. Their mocking looks fell of their faces as they looked around in fear.
Did this stranger have power over Earth’s movement?
It was dead silent. Suddenly there was a massive cracking noise and buildings everywhere began to collapse. Whole buildings broke in half and collapsed. Every structure in the city, but one, was completely leveled. Yet any building with any occupants fell in such a way that none were harmed. No one was killed or injured. Dust filled the air from the fallen structures. The gazes of the crowd soon turned into glares as they attempted to comprehend what had just taken place.
Soon three thousand were gathered before me. They yelled and rushed towards me. I tried to spread my wings but found I couldn’t. One man grabbed me by the shoulders from behind. He spun me around and punched me in the jaw. As soon as his fist hit my face he was engulfed in flames. He screamed and ran towards the fountain throwing himself into it. The crowd stared in awe of what was happening, forgetting their anger. As he leapt into the water the fountain didn’t extinguish the flames, but instead acted like gasoline and ignited in a huge burst of flame, raining ash, skin, and smoke down on the crowd.
Their gazes lifted from the fountain and came back to me. All stood with their mouths hanging open.
“You may not harm me. I am a prophet of God. He sends me to speak life into your hearts that you may know his love. God wants that none should perish. Give up your evil ways and follow him. Jesus is the only way you can be saved. The path you are taking leads to destruction.”
I found myself speaking English, yet being understood by everyone there. A few people fell to their knees weeping. I continued.
“He died for you. Now die to yourself and follow him. There is one, who has come to steal and destroy, but that one is not God. That is the one that many of you live your lives for. Repent!”
There were more people on their knees.
“He loves you! You are choosing death. I beg you, choose Him. Repent!”
Look around you, he has done this. He didn’t do it to cause you to suffer, but to open your eyes. Notice that no one was injured. He is alive and powerful. He will forgive you. Simply repent!”
Hundreds fell to their knees, but others were infuriated by my words. They picked up stones and began to hurl them at me. I ignored it and continued.
“Those that have listened, I thank you and I beg you leave this city. It is an evil place and no good will come of it. It will soon become the center of the world, but not yet, and those days will be dark, full of suffering and death. You do not need to endure that. Again, I say to you repent! Repent for the end is near!”
Men grabbed me and were instantly on fire. They let go and rolled on the ground to extinguish the flames. I withdrew my sword. Another hand grabbed at my shoulder and I sliced the hand off. The crowd began to back away.
“Rally my people to you. They shall protect you. Head for the last structure. It is his temple. He would use it for evil, but I will use it for good.”
I yelled over the crowd as people constantly attacked me, finding themselves either sliced or on fire.
“Those of you that repented. He has forgiven you. Now protect me. I must get to the temple!”
A 100 rose to their feet as one. They wiped the tears from their faces and pushed into the crowd. They grabbed me and tore me away from my assailants.
I looked up into the sky and saw another battle raging overhead. Thousands filled the sky as they battled for the souls of Babylon.
The Christians rushed me towards the temple, fighting those that wanted to harm me. As I neared the temple, a gunshot rang out. I turned to see one drop to the ground, shot by an attacker. Everything stopped as everyone turned to see my reaction.
“Verily I say unto you, that brother is now in heaven. His sacrifice shall be remembered and he will be rewarded.”
The shooter stood staring at me until a lightning bolt snaked down from the sky overhead. The bolt went through his body and he dropped to the ground convulsing. With that, all hell broke loose, once again. Guns were forgotten and people used their fists, knives, feet and anything else they had to try and get to me. The Christians were equally ruthless fighting back to protect me. I was rushed up the stairs of the large sandstone structure. Once I was inside, they slammed the doors and rushed back outside to continue the battle.

He would have to finish this himself he had spent ten long years with his troops failing to stop him. For ten years the human had been plaguing him. He had traveled all over the world undoing Lucifer’s work and decimating his army. There was no way he was going to sit back and watch this human ruin everything that he had accomplished, everything that he had worked so hard for. It must end! This miserable human would die a horrible death. Rage overwhelmed him. He used the rage and the jealousy to fuel his every movement.
Darkness followed wherever he flew, following him like a thread follows a needle. He soared with his magnificent wings stretched out over the shimmering ocean waters. Gems of every kind shone in the watery reflection; rubies, diamonds, topaz, beryl, carnelian, jasper, sapphires, and emeralds adorned his majestic wings. He smiled as he looked upon his beautiful reflection in the waters below. Spurred on by pride he flew faster, speeding towards his goal. Humanity would end.

He is coming for me. I can feel it. The hatred is radiating through the air growing more and more intense as he approaches. I have been waiting here for three days. In this hymnal I have recorded the events that have taken place throughout my life. I hope that in reading it you will come to find the Truth. I can’t fight hatred like that. There is no way I can win, but I’m not meant to win, am I?
I have been pacing around the temple. The temple of the sun god. Lucifer’s own temple. It had been built in Babylon by the former dictator who had worshiped the sun god. Here was the place to fight him. I didn’t know why, but I am past questioning anything.
The hatred is still growing. My head feels like it is about to explode. I have drawn my sword and I am sitting down in a pew, waiting for him. Sunlight was streaming in through the stained glass windows, but now it has gone dark. I pray that you find the Truth.
“For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.” - 2 Thessalonians 2:7
May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. Amen.

The city of Babylon stretched out below, completely destroyed.
He roared. A battle still raged in the sky around him and on the ground below. He ignored both.
Why was the human here? This city was pivotal to the success of his whole plan. The human couldn’t know that, it wasn’t possible.
He stopped and hovered, searching. He felt his presence and swooped down towards the temple. He crashed through the stained glass windows and landed in the middle of the church.
“Are you ready to die, human?”
“Yes I am” he calmly replied. “It is too late for you to stop me from completing my purpose. Through Jesus I have the victory. Look outside! They see through your lies and deception. Are you ready to die? For your downfall is impending.”
“Enough talking! This ends now!” He shouted.
Lucifer ran at him with his sword drawn. He parried the blow. The impact of metal on metal reverberated up through the human’s shoulders. The human pushed down on his sword then spun left, swiping at him. A gash appeared on Lucifer’s chest.
He roared in pain and anger. It echoed through the temple as he stood there glaring at him. Lucifer’s eyes were filled with hatred and fear.
“You are scared of me. Scared of what God has already accomplished through my sacrifice. Yes you will kill me. That was part of the plan, but word of what happened here will spread like wildfire. You will lose millions. Not to mention the fact that Babylon lies in smoldering ruins. You have reason to be scared.” He stated.
“I am scared of no one, mortal.” Fear was replaced with anger and his sword lashed out again and again. He blocked each blow, but was slowly moving backwards. He swung leaving a gash in the human’s shoulder. Lucifer paused trying to catch his breath. The human’s arms hung limp at his sides, they felt like they would snap off if he had to block another blow.
The human walked towards him and swung. Lucifer met the blow gracefully and pushed against him hoping to push him off balance. The human pushed back using all of his energy. Lucifer pushed even harder. Their eyes locked as they put everything they had into forcing the others sword away. “God give me strength” the human whispered.
“He can’t help you now. I am more powerful than he ever will be.”
Lucifer stopped pushing and the human fell forwards off balance. He pulled his sword back and pushed it into the human’s side. The human fell to his knees gasping and trying to suck in air.
“Lord I pray that I have given them enough time.”
“Renounce him and you can live.” Lucifer said as he stood in front of the kneeling human.
“Thank you for all you have done through me Lord.” The human continued to pray. Lucifer screamed in rage and placed his sword above his neck ready to cut.
“One last chance.” Lucifer muttered.
“Jesus, into your hands I commit my spirit.” He raised the sword and swung it down cleaving the human’s head off of his shoulders. He laughed maniacally.
It was over.
He pushed the heavy doors open and looked out at his kingdom. It lay in ruins. Bodies covered the ground and the Christians the obvious victors stood in a large circle praying and praising God.
Lucifer spat on the ground. It wasn’t over, far from it. He would get the city rebuilt and he would train up more troops. Behind him he heard a creaking noise. He turned as the temple sunk into the ground, leaving nothing but one decapitated body and a hymnal above the ground.
