Bruised and battered, broken will,
Crouched beneath the windowsill.
Crashing, bashing, yelling fist,
Rarely has he ever missed.
Wedding vows to love and cherish,
Taken back, the love has perished.
Purple marks upon her skin,
The bigger man will surely win.
Children cry in darkened rooms,
Mommy bleeds and Daddy booms.
Flashing lights and hands are tied.
"It's all my fault", Mommy cried.
"I'm the one who made him mad,
Honest, he's done nothing bad."
Cover up the blackened eye,
Tell the world another lie.
Little Johnny, with no justice had,
Will grow up to be just like Dad.
Susie will grow up and marry Tom,
Who will treat her the way that Dad treated Mom.
She'll stay with him always and lie for him too,
Because that's what Mom showed her how to do.

Break the cycle that breaks the heart
And tears a family all apart.
Teach the children not to hit,
Daddy's in jail because of it.
Families are made to love each other,
Father, Mother, Sister, Brother.

Bring God into your home today
And keep the evil one away.
Joy will fill your lives once more,
And love will open Heaven's door.
