A Visit To The Holy Land

On a visit to the Holy Land
I walked the very steps of Christ,
From Bethlehem to Golgotha
Where He gave up His life.

Born to humble peasants,
He sought those who were lost.
He fought temptation in the desert.
His life is what it cost.

The nails, the sword, the stripes and crown,
They all were meant for me.
The blows He took, they were my own,
Upon the cross at Calvary.

But Jesus, precious Jesus,
He saved me from that death.
My name was on His heart that day,
As He drew His final breath.

I visited the stable,
Where my Savior breathed His first,
I visited the wilderness,
Where angels quenched His thirst.

I walked the Via Dolorosa
On my way to Calvary.
To view the very hilltop
Where my Jesus died for me.

The most impressive thing I learned
While on my journey far,
Was that no matter where I am,
Jesus, there You are.
