There are ways and means
of accumulating distance -

Its current from the bely
of a follower without
one to follow,
swelling dormant doubts.
Three years of conviction
rinse off
in every
deviant
step.

There are faces
dappled with associations
of wet feet treading
ripples of another.
Barrages of blame brim
Into fear -
waterbound
limbs
lost.

Suddenly, showers of sound,
a cockerals crow
by a figure entwined to a cross,
guilt entwined to the figure.

Weep
for one's journey
to our destination.
