He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
- That's Guidance!

The shepherd always guides his sheep back home no matter how far they may have wandered. He leads them, although often they pretend to know better and go their own way.
We do the same with the Lord. We often have as if we know the way and wander off. God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He never leads us astray, although at times it may look as if He is leading us astray. He knows the end from the beginning. He sees what we do not see. As we trust Him and let go the reins of our lives, it can often be frightening as he takes us through some cliff edges. But He knows what He does and He wants to build more confidence into us. He wants us to know the greatness of his faithfulness, His nearness, His power, His integrity and unfailing love.

He tells us from time to time, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’ His word is a light to our path and a lamp to our feet. He desire that we walk as the light of this world, the salt of the earth. Ours is the narrow pathway of righteousness and holiness. Unlike the broad way which attracts many, only few go the way of righteousness.

This is why guidance that is contrary to His word is not guidance from Him because God will not contradict His word. The 66 books of the bible are considered to be His main broadcast channels. God would not contradict Himself. He is not the Author of confusion. He speaks what He means and means what He speaks. Once again He has given us His Holy Spirit to be our Guide- to guide us into all truth. The extent to which He guides us depends on our openness and willingness for Him to guide us.
‘As many as are led by the Spirit they are the children of God.’ (Rom8:14). ‘My sheep hear my voice and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.(John10:4-5,16) I will guide you with my eyes(Ps32:8). Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. (Matt4:1) Phillip was led from a flourishing ministry into the desert to minister to the Ethiopian Eunuch. (Acts8:26-38). God wants to guide you and even today. But would we let Him?

May the Lord Guide you and I in the pathway of His righteousness so that we can bring glory and honour to His name.
