Testimonies
Salvation, deliverance, transformation, rebirth: there are no better words to describe what happened to me on a cool, quiet Tuesday evening during a November church revival service. I anxiously sat on the front row of the Faith Baptist Church auditorium listening intently as a bald, elderly preacher proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a very bold, vociferous manner. Little did I know that this evening would totally and eternally change my gloomy outlook on life. At the time of this revival service, my heart was held hostage by feelings of insecurity and I had as much direction in life as a ship without a sail.
As far as religion was concerned, I was as ignorant as a newborn babe. However, that night I discovered that I was bound by the shackles of my sin and that the powers of darkness controlled by a dastardly devil and his demons had complete reign over my sorry soul. I came to the terrifying realization that the chains of iniquity, if not loosened, would one day eternally bind me to the confines of a torture chamber known as Hell, where I would endure endless agony and misery while the unquenchable fire would mutilate my flesh and the unbearable stench of burning brimstone would pervade my nostrils. In this abyss, my tongue, in a state less endurable than a hot desert, would crave even a single drop of liquid to quench an unimaginable thirst.
In order to loose the chains of iniquity which had long bound me, I needed to accept Jesus Christ into my heart, for He endured a Hell meant for me when His body was mercilessly battered, bruised, and beaten upon a cross. The blood that Jesus shed on Mount Calvary had the power to make my filthy heart whiter than snow. At the altar call, the oracle of God, in a warm, pleading voice, asked for those who had never accepted Christ to lift their hands. My heart was pounding rapidly inside my body and Almighty God was knocking at the door, begging to come into my life. Trembling with unspeakable fear, I finally found the courage to lift my hand and acknowledge that I needed to speak with someone about the sorry state of my soul.
Nervously, I went into another room with the compassionate youth pastor as he opened his old King James Bible and told me of a Savior who loved me and longed to rescue me from the sin which was holding me hostage. Then, I humbly bowed my head and asked Christ to come into my life. Suddenly, an unspeakable peace and tranquility filled my sorry soul as I finally had the sweet assurance that my eternal residence would be in Heaven, with God and the holy angels. The shackles of sin were loosened and the powers of darkness no longer held me in subjection. That night, I was given something worth my undying devotion. Now, I live each day with the blessed hope that, no matter what happens, the holy God of Creation holds me firmly in the palm of His hand.

Incredibly stated! "Restore unto me the joy of my salvation..." This brings me back to when I was saved. Sometimes we forget what it was like when we first invited Christ into our hearts. Thanks for restoring that in me. -Lena
What a beautiful testimony Nick. I read your author's page, and saw that you gave your life to Christ at the age of 13. Well, all I can say that it's easy to see that you really have been walking with your Saviour every day since then. May God use your writing always for His glory. With love, Deb
Such a vivid picture that I can truly imagine my being there with you.
